Came here for my sister's 30th birthday last night. Was quite excited to try something new and local. When we arrived atmosphere was great. Loved the scenery and live music. We arrived about 530, was told by our table that our waitress had the whole patio and we might need to be patient. Being in the service industry for 15 years I understood this. The waitress came and got our drinks after about 20 minutes. At this time I ordered my drink and dinner to make things easier and she wouldn't have to worry about it. After waiting an hour for our DRINKS( which were a bottled soda and a white sangria) she came over and asked if we needed anything I stated "yea our drinks" finally 5 minutes later we received them. About 15 minutes later when my sangria was gone I chose to go to the bar to get my own refill assuming it would be faster. It was. There were 3 bartenders standing there ready to take my order. If you've been in the industry you know that if the bar isn't busy running around then the establishment isn't THAT busy. I went back to my table. Now mind you it is 7 o'clock and we still have not received our food. After about 15 more minutes realizing that they close at 8 we all decide to leave and say never mind we will go somewhere else. I walk to the bar and tell who looks like the manager where my table is and that we need to cancel our food. I return to the table to finish my drink and gather my things. Well here comes our food. How funny that it magically appears. Whats worse is it was 2 burgers. We ordered 2 pulled pork. We laughed and explained to the poor girl who had to bring it out that it was too late. She dared to ask if we wanted to bring it home. Why would I want something I didn't order and looked like it had been sitting in the window for hours. Come to find out other patrons that were also leaving had experienced the same thing. Then to see the owners get on here and say continuously that we had low staff or some excuse is sad. No you have 4 servers and maybe 20 tables. If they can't handle that you need NEW people. I ended up going to a chain restaurant afterwards to finally get food and service. Which I was in and out in 40 minutes. Which stinks because I really wanted to support local. However if this is the service, I will NEVER be returning and I wouldn't waste my time...
Read moreI was simply wowed by this venue. Newly open the Summer of 2016, the owners have introduced a winery set on top of a bluff over the Missouri River Valley in Marthasville, just across the river from Washington, MO. The main building looks to be a renovated farm home. The tasting room is small so if you come, get here early! $2 for 3 tastings but you get to keep the glass, which is an ample size (red wine I believe) with the Lake Creek Winery etching. There's a cozy fire but only 2 chairs facing w/no small table to set your wine while seated. A couple more 2-person cafe tables are against the inside window. Outside, there's a wide-ish patio the length of the building with seating generally for 4 to 6 persons per table. They do have some heaters, but one the we were sitting next to only moved so far - so don't expect them to be portable. Off the porch is a very large open patio area. There was an un-intrusive guitar player the day we were there; perfect volume, no rock, just good background. The view is pleasant and relaxing. They have a man-sized chess board w/pieces out front (not sure if you can actually play w/them or not - I didn't see anyone try it on my visit) and a covered pavilion off the side of the building with picnic tables. The staff is very friendly (in the tasting room, one of the owners' wives will readily share with you her recipe for Beef and Guinness Stew!) And the food ... the food .... this is not mere pub fare. This is a culinary delight! If you're a true foodie, you owe it to yourself to trek out here. If you can make it to Augusta, go the extra mile (or 2) past Dutzow & into Marthasville. I give this 4 stars b/c of the limited seating inside and the small tasting room, but other than that -...
Read moreDrove out of our way to come here. Was told they weren't open but we could buy bottles even though their hours on Google say they opened at 11. When I politely suggested they make sure their hours get corrected on Google I was met with excuses. Unfortunately for the girl working I manage this kind of thing for a living for small companies. When I said this, the girl continued to make excuses. This is something I, as customer that definitely knows better, wants to hear. Admittedly I became curt with her and said, I know that it isn't hard to keep Google hours updated so making excuses and just say sorry and leave it at that. No customer wants to be argued with. I know it's not her fault for the hours but she did not handle it correctly either.
To the owners/operators, correct your hours it's very easy. With 95+%(verifiable) of tourists and first time customers using Google to find and navigate to businesses such as this. The website does have the updated hours, but nothing is done to draw the eye in and they are buried in the middle of a paragraph, this is simply just bad design and not the industry standard for such thing. As I mentioned, I've had to deal with this exact kind of thing for a living, for multiple businesses in multiple markets in multiple industries. The burden is on the company to make things as clear and simple as possible for the customer. Some things are worth paying for. We are going to be in the area for some days, we always buy at least a couple bottles after a tasting. We will not be coming back and we are likely not the only ones. How many lost customers does it take to pay for a professional, or a better...
