Loved visiting this place. It's pretty small (basically one large room) so it's not worth it's own trip but if you're at the Boeing factory tour you're so close already that it's worth a stop. It's $5 to go in, and there are signs explaining a little bit about most of the planes. There are also planes hanging from the ceiling. Most of the planes are in various stages of restoration, and when I was there a couple of people were at work on the restoration of a plane and a car previously used to service planes. I started chatting with one of the people and he told me tons about the various planes and their backgrounds. It was fascinating. Bottom line--don't expect this to be as curated and official as the Museum of Flight, but it's still cool to visit and see the restoration process.

You get to see a lot of stuff here that you won't find at the Museum of Flight in Seattle! They have a Corsair, the first business jet which was a Lockheed Martin Jetstar, Boeing's only Supersonic Transporter prototype, a really shiny red fire engine, and a H-21B Workhorse helicopter which, as it was nicknamed, looks like a flying banana! It's really incredible to see these planes and if you're lucky you might catch a volunteer in the middle of their restoration progress! Feel free to chat with them! Fair amount of parking in front. Incredibly cheap admission fare ($4 for adults).

Of all the flight Museums and tours in the area, this one is by far the most affordable. You get to see where the Seattle museum of flight gets their meticulously restored aircrafts. There is some very interesting stuff to see. Make sure to get the tour from the guy Manning the booth. He goes into great detail. The price was worth his stories alone.

The behaviour of one of the employees of this place was truly shocking.

I showed up in the carpark of the museum of flight a couple of weeks back at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I had just driven down from Canada and the museum shares it's carpark with a aviation testing facility.

I was there to book an exam.

I pulled into the back of the car park where my truck would be in the shade as I had my golden retriever with me and it was a hot day. I let my dog jump out of my truck just so I could give her a drink of water. The carpark was deserted and my dog is well behaved so I did not put her on a leash which was a mistake. My dog did not stray more than 10 feet from the door of my truck I put a bowl of water down for her right next to the truck. I heard a man yell GET THAT DOG ON A LEASH from the air side of the fence. I immediately told my dog to get back in the truck and closed the door. My dog did nothing but get out and drink some water and get back into the truck.

An old man approached the fence and I went to see him. I said sorry I didn't put my dog on a leash I just wanted to give her some water and I didn't see anyone around. He said they have had problems with dogs and accused me of letting my dog out to go to the bathroom. I explained my dig did not use the bathroom and I just wanted to give her a drink. I said sorry for not putting her on a leash and explained she would not be getting out of the truck again.

He then went on to say that this was private property. I said ok I'm simply hear to book an exam at the flight testing facility. He didn't seem to take notice of what I had said. He said this is private property I think you should leave. I said hold on I'm here to book an exam at the testing facility and pointed toward the entrance some 25 feet from where I was parked. I asked him if he was an employee of the museum and he said he was. He then left without saying anything.

I thought that was kinda strange but maybe they have had problems in the past.

I went to the testing facility to find it had closed early. I then sat in my truck and started using my phone to Google a place to stay for the night.

Within a couple of minutes the same man sped up behind me in his car and started honking his horn. I got out of the car and approached his window. Another man came out of a side door and took a few steps toward me and then stopped (I am not sure what he wanted I think he may of been there to intimidate me or something). I asked the aggressive old man in his car what the problem was. He said if I don't get out of there he was calling the sheriff. I said as I explained earlier I was here to book an exam at the testing facility would you like to see me Canadian helicopter licence. He didn't answer me he just told me AGAIN to leave or he was calling the sheriff. I then walked back to my truck and grabbed my licence. The old man started to drive away. I ran after him and held my licence up so he could see it. He yelled I'm calling the sheriff the museum is closed. I said I'm not here to see the museum. Then he said there is no camping here. I said I'm not camping I'm here to book am exam. Then he sped off. I returned to my truck and searched for a local bed and breakfast for 10 mins. The sheriff never showed up.

I returned 2 days later and successfully completed the exam at the testing facility.

I never saw that aggressive old man again. I was nothing but polite throughout the entire incident and never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect. That guy...
