Is this the best thrift store in Washington DC? If not comment where I should go for the best thrifting. Let’s see what I found at Georgia Avenue Thrift Store, located on Georgia Avenue and Quackenbos Street. Catch my full Washington DC travel vlog on YouTube. There is always something going on in this store but I had to post this complaint. I stood line for at least five minutes. I watched three people walk past the line and went straight to the cashier posted. She looked at me and served the three ladies instead of sending them to the back of the line. The store was packed. I reported the incident to the manager and his response was "so what". I told him it wasn't fair for all of us who waited and followed the rules. His response was " I can't do nothing." He didn't even bother to tell customers that they should wait to be called. I'm know for sure I can donate and purchases stuff from other store. People shouldn't cry foul when they are committing the foul!!!

Great finds the other day when they had 3 tag colors 50% off! I snagged five jackets, a skirt and one long 100% wool coat barely worn all for $30. There are treasures hidden within the racks!

If you go to this location make sure you take your time especially at checkout because you will be rushed to pay and charged incorrectly. They will speak Spanish about you in front of you assuming you don’t know what they are saying. They also haven’t updated their verifone card reader to receive Apple Pay or contactless technology although the device has the features. Apparently no one read the manual. Not an ideal place to find reasonable prices but they do receive donations daily that are dumped in the front of the store in hotel size laundry bins. Throughout the store, you may find formalwear, bedsheets, formal work attire, a couple of worn out shoes, lots of outdated ties, and array of denim, very few purses, menswear, a couple of cups and plates, lamps without shades and wicker items. On the weekends you may see more of a mess and people trying things on in the aisles. They have 2 fitting rooms that aren’t very private. Depending on the day there will be additional discounts according to the colors of the balloons in the front of the store. Beware of your car and the neighborhood !!! They count their drawers 30 minutes prior to closing and turn off the lights only leaving the front lights on 15 minutes to closing while you’re still in the store. Don’t expect good customer service from...

Used to be decent, but it seems the new management is more about turning a quick profit than trying to help people in need of 2nd hand goods. Bedrooms dresser set in giving for free they wouldn't accept because of a couple spots on top that could have easily been polished. Also, my truck wasn't big enough to fit the set (dresser, chest, 2 large nightstands) and immediately the apparent furniture guy was all negative. The manager seemed nice at first, but when the furniture guy cursed at me in Spanish, she basically was like whatever. If she had simply, after looking at the items said, no we can't take it, I would have been salty for a min and gone about my business. Customer service, not great at all today. Few months ago, they were. I particularly enjoy giving good reviews, to help the business. Today was a bad experience. I worked in retail years ago, even if the customer is wrong, you still need to treat them...

Great finds if you look at EVERY item but that's thrifting. The staff on average were good especially, for an extremely busy Saturday. I advise to go early on weekends. My one complaint is there was a kerosene lamp that had a hole. I found out it was kerosene because when I picked it up to view it closely for potential purchase, liquid spilled on my coat! I took it to a cashier and explained to her it needed to be moved before a bigger mess was made. She neither called someone to help clean the spill nor a tissue. I used napkins from my pocket to fill the hole and to wipe the floor so no one would slip. The same cashier checked me out and no discount was offered either. I would patronize the store again, but a little customer service training...
