SmokeDatt Barbecue "A Catering Company" — Local services in Washington

While visiting me for his routine dental check up, I had expressed that I was looking to have a dinner for my family. It was at that time Mr. Loving mentioned that he owns a BBQ catering company. This was literally a Godsend being that I was worried about what food to offer guests. I looked into his menu and everything sounded amazing. Mr. Loving was so professional in guiding/ advising me as to what to order, the quantity, and meat selection. Having him cater was the best decision I could've made for this gathering. This food was delivered HOT🔥 ahead of the guest arriving. The aroma smelled fantastic! When my family arrived, let me tell you ..... the first question they asked was "did you grill some food? cause it smells good in here." As they walked into the kitchen to see the trays of food nicely organized on warming racks they all collectively said "ohh we eating good today."😋. Mr. Loving cooked the best meal and I mean the best meal ever💯. My family and siblings said " this brisket is speaking to my soul" " that salmon is everything," "those ribs are the bomb." The food was Fantastic! The taste was authentic and Mr. Loving cooked the hell out of the food👌! Everyone went back for thirds and there was plenty of food remaining to take home. All in all, the ribs, brisket, salmon, Baked chicken, BBQ Chicken, mac n cheese, greens, string beans, mashed potatoes, and corn bread were all on point! I can not express how GOOD the food at SmokeDatt was! We’re from Boston and we don’t have BBQ place here or ones that are even good. While looking for a caterer for my sister’s baby shower in DC, I found SmokeDatt Barbecue. From the beginning, the owner George was so helpful and not only that honest. We wanted to try almost everything on the menu and this was only for a party of 20 people. He told me that that was way too much food for that amount of people. I loved his honesty. Most people would’ve taken your order and money. He helped us choose a good amount of food, always quick with responses and overall great customer service. He was also very prompt on his delivery time as well.

Now on to the finger licking, amazing food! EVERY SINGLE FOOD CHOICE WAS DELICIOUS! The ribs were so tender, bbq chicken was phenomenal, Mac and cheese, shrimp, mash, brisket, the corn on the cob…I can go on but I’m getting hungry thinking about it! There was not a single negative complaint. The seasoning was there, the flavor, just everything. Most of us never had BBQ besides what we make in our on home but this was everything for first timers and people who’ve had bbq before. I just ordered this from the food truck at my place of employment. I wanted to try the chopped brisket and a side of green beans (green beans were good). The lady and gentleman asked me if I wanted an additional side to make it a platter since I was already at cost, and I opted for the Mac and cheese (edible, but very greasy, and no creaminess whatever, just cheese, oil and noodles). Now for the meat which is by far the WORST chopped brisket I have ever tasted in my entire life. It was way too salty and tasted like jerky. Why do we think that dumping a ton of salt is helping the flavor of the food? For the $18.02 plus a $2.00 tip; it could have went towards the copay for high blood pressure medicine. It went in the trash, sadly. Maybe the brick and mortar is better, but I won’t be back.

A refund was offered by the owner and they wanted the last 4 digits of my card, but I paid cash. While appreciated, nevertheless ridiculous. I wonder if I can get my cash back from the food truck because they still come to my place of employment weekly, which I’ll never understand why. I’m so...
