Went here today on 6/26/18 and hike down to the refuge from the steamboat parking area. It was a little after 5:30am when I got there. The parking area for steamboat is gravel, there are more nice parking areas in industrial vancouver. The bathrooms don't open till after 6am at steamboat and cottonwood parking areas, so that was not good. The east Dike trail is mostly all gravel and I got a huge blister on my heel from walking to the refuge and back on it, not going to do that again and there are tons of bugs and even mosquitoes so bring your bug spray and put it on. The trail is mostly in the sun in the summer and the signs on e wa st Dike trail can be a little confusing.

Not sure I want to share this review as it's a coveted spot. 😀 An enjoyable, adventure walk on the beach, low or high tide, without driving to the coast. Forget it in the summer as it's packed wall to wall bodies. But when school is back in, it's a haven. Pets are allowed and I see lots of dog walkers coming over from the causeway to the beach. But please scoop the poop people. Walk a little further up and see Beavers damn. Great historical site for education and learning moments with the well placed signage and interesting stories. Never gets old. Another perk of living in the great PNW.

We rented a covered area for our 20th high school reunion. It was a very reasonable price, and had plenty of seating, a space to work and a decent sized BBQ for the size of our group. In the Clark cover we were pretty decently close to the water and had volleyball near us as well with lots of grass for other fun park sports. Overall I could see using this space again. Make sure to get there early in the day if you want to get parking though. And bring a wagon to carry your stuff as it’s a bit of a walk from the path to the covered area.

My recent visit to the river left me greatly disappointed and disgusted. The river was not only incredibly dirty but also suffering from overfishing. The sight of cans and dog waste scattered everywhere made the experience even worse.

It is truly disheartening to witness a river in such a neglected state. The excessive amount of debris was not only unsightly but also detrimental to the overall ecosystem and aquatic life. Additionally, the problem of overfishing further exacerbates the already fragile balance of the river's ecosystem.

I strongly urge the authorities responsible for the river's maintenance to take immediate action. Regular clean-up initiatives and stricter enforcement of regulations regarding waste disposal can significantly improve the situation. Furthermore, implementing measures to address and prevent overfishing is vital to restore the river's health and protect its precious ecosystem.

To fellow visitors, I implore you to be mindful of your actions and encourage responsible behavior. Dispose of waste properly and refrain from contributing to the pollution of the river. By respecting the environment, we can collectively work towards preserving its natural beauty for future generations.

I also encourage everyone to raise awareness about these issues through social media platforms and review websites. Expressing our concerns can shed light on the problems plaguing the river and potentially yield the necessary changes.

It is my sincere hope that the authorities will take these concerns seriously and implement the appropriate measures to restore the river's cleanliness and combat overfishing. A clean and thriving river not only benefits the surrounding wildlife but also provides a more enjoyable experience for visitors.

Let us all join hands in advocating for the preservation of our natural resources, and may we see the necessary improvements for the sake of the river and those who...

So easy to get in and out. Pit stop restroom before you enter park so convenient. Foot rinse station for way out. Walk thru the trees - nice nature walk before you reach the open expansive shore of One of our biggest rivers in the US! The Green Cascades a beautiful background to the beautiful blue slow moving and fairly warm waters right now! So blessed to be in one of the prettiest places on our planet and so proud of our leaders to devote natural engineering designs to our landscapes!!! This life may be temporary but God sure makes us aware of how He wants to bless us for His promised Paradise to come, far better than this stunning place. Notice Him in this beautiful place, sense His Love for you in this place. Jesus came to give us the meaning of why this beauty is left around for us! Lovin seein the God behind all this natural...
