If you can get here early on a 75+ degree day, you can have a great time with the kids. It's a family beach with family after family with infants to 12 year olds. It's shady in the morning, until about 9am. It gets hot around noon on warmer days. The water is pretty warm, up to your waist, after June 1st or the first couple 75+ days in a row. The beach is very friendly to small kids and dogs. There's an excellent paved path for running or stroller walks. This placed is PACKED with families. If you're a single, young couple you may want to find a better spot; or maybe come for the birth...

So beautiful at William Clark park and cottonwood beach. Lots of walkers, bicyclists and families with young children. The children playing on the beach in the sand, getting dirty, wet oh how much fun is that. Mom is right there watching over her flock, 3 sm children having a fun afternoon. Walked more than a mile, first time since my multiple fractured big toe, no to surgery...it was great, to walk among mother natures...

It is a beautiful Park & beach, love going there but the other day we were reprimanded by an older woman because our dog was off leash playing with another parkgoer's dog on the beach away from the walking path. "I've called animal control & they are coming for you" said the old woman as she walked by on the path after we greeted her with a hello. I guess to her being able to enjoy the public park is only available to...

I loved walking this beach! It is the closest thing to a beach experience without driving far. There were only a handful of people here at the Columbia since it is October and a little chilly & windy. The water is too cold to swim, but scenery is gorgeous. It is also a close walking distance from the lake; about 1.5 miles away once you get past all the industrial stuff.

We have been here several times now & its such a great place for the kids. Parking can get a bit tricky, if the parking areas are full you might have to walk a bit (approx a couple blocks worth) to get there but its better than no parking at all..esp on a hot day!! Really nice sandy beach & shallow waters & you can see the sun set, too if you want. Really beautiful!
