Such a great place to swim. We drove up from portland at 2pm on a friday and the traffic getting out of the city was substantial. Once on the way to the gorge however it was relatively uncrowded and a spectacular drive. The falls themselves have two sides you can swim in -the part directly connected to the falls was more crowded and cramped but directly next to the falls whereas the otherside is pools connected to the falls with more places to lay out (i stayed on the side farther from the falls, it appears to have more families/kids because the currents seem less dangerous.) Parking was not terribly bad, i assume it would be far worse on hotter days. the hike/path down is minimal, takes 5 minutes max. the current is very strong and the water is not terribly deep so do be careful when swimming. the water is so clean and clear but ice cold!! one of the best swimming experiences ive ever had...

Absolutely gorgeous area of the Washougal river to go on a hot day with deep areas of swimming and plenty of rocks to lay on like a Lizard basking in the sun. Some things to be aware of before going: a pretty rough walk down from the parking lot (not long though) at least on the side I went to. Not great for folks with mobility issues or carrying lots of items Very poorly maintained unusable restrooms, no toilet paper/feces and garbage everywhere. Discovery pass is an absolute must, the park ranger seemed to be having the time of his life circling the parking lot handing tickets out left and right. Crowding in the summer No cell service which can make it somewhat difficult if you are meeting up with someone and aren't in immediate view/have a meetup spot

Overall a very beautiful area of Washington though imo there are other areas of the river that are less crowded and just...

Went here yesterday with my boyfriend. We arrived at like 12:30 and it wasen't thag crowed. There was people but you could find a space with a little privacy to put your belongings & relax. We checked out both swiming spots ~ The spot where the big waterfall was behind it and the spot where the waterfall was at. it was absolutely refreshing on a hot day. The water was clear and you could see below you. I defintely recommend coming here. It was very relaxing and fun. But make sure to have a discovery pass! Or you will get a ticket! It says clear as day at the park to have one. I bought a single day time use Discovery pass at the Chevron right after you get off the freeway. They sell it for 15$ with card or...

Awesome place to cool off and swim/picnic! The water is clean and clear and has various depths for kids/people who want to snorkel or jump off the rocks into the deeper pools. Lugging equipment up and down can be a bit tricky but there are obvious trails around. There are no bathrooms so make sure that is done beforehand, the only reason it’s not a 5/5 is because of the trash left behind and people using the bathroom way too close to the trafficked areas and not disposing of it properly. A discovery pass is required and tickets are issued quickly for anyone without one. Grippy water shoes would make it much more enjoyable as some of the rocks can be slippery.
