I enjoyed this campground, as did my daughter and husband. We went for a weekend, in May of 2023, and then again in July. Since we use the same camping stuff, and usually don't switch out our camp garb, I. E. Tent, tapestry hangings for shade and wind, some of the fish & wildlife folks thought we'd been camping there since May, in July.. after being harassed for three days straight, we left, because we weren't about to be bullied out of the campground... We were made aware that there was no camp host, and the spot was open to stay for regular camping, so we took it, and didn't abuse it, nor did we pretend to be the hosts.. My daughter and I were harassed for a number of days by a short man from fish & wildlife to the point where it gave me anxiety, every time I encountered him, my husband was making a run into town.. I told the man baby, that my husband would be back, and that he could have this conversation with him too, since this man was unwilling to take me seriously, and although I was being cordial, and cooperative. I felt like he was unnecessarily expressing his power over me and my daughter. The woman who was in the spot before us, that told us that we could have it, didn't mention anything about the man from fish & wildlife. So we had no idea if she encountered him, nor if he was a thing to be aware of. The first time I met him, he did not introduce himself, and at first I saw someone screaming up the hill in a dark grey Ford truck, leaving a cloud of dust in their wake. He pulls up, jumps out, and is completely rude and unreasonable with me after I am nice, cooperative and agreeable. I realized after the second time of him coming up there to 'tell me off' and saying unnecessary things to me, it was incredibly threatening. After the third time of him coming up and harassing me and my daughter , I asked his name and who he was with... he scoffed at me and said his first name. I said and your last? He scoffed rolled his eyes and said his last name. Then I said, 'and who are you with again? Because you never once introduced yourself to me.." He said, this land!? That you're on right now... Scoff ' with a smirk on his face. I had about enough of this man, and being treated like this when neight me nor my daughter deserved this!

My husband called fish & wildlife, and complained about the guy, none of the workers knew who he was talking about, they said they never heard of him.. which I felt was a lie. Be aware. Flat top. Dark grey truck, power tripper 100%. If you're a single female up there, he just may try and dominate you. Which is a very terrible, uneasy, and...

The place itself deserves 100 stars. Sadly this campground, without the amazing camp hosts Ed & Wanda, has gone downhill. The guy who comes through does what he can and Ive seen him hauling out tons of trash and cleaning the restrooms but some of the people using this magical land are violating the rules like over staying the 7 consecutive day limit, leaving trash and some people set up canopies and tents just to hog spots they don’t intend on using until days later. SELFISH people. Don’t be one of them.

If everyone not only picked up after themselves but maybe took extra trash out while there, this place would be even more magical. I took out an entire trash bag after the weekend from other people.

Leave no trace and be considerate. This place only has limited spots. Use it when you need it. And come early if you want a spot. People usually leave by noon or before.

And don’t overstay your welcome. I’ve seen places turn into homeless encampments (and I live on the road in my van so I’m not judging. Simply making a statement. Don’t need a...

Truly one of the best campgrounds I've ever found. It's small with first come first serve sites, but so worth the drive. Site #5 is right against the river but all sites are private. I wouldn't recommend any for large RVs but a class B or tear drop would work fine.

There is a lot to do between hiking or exploring the river. There is also a salmon hatchery a mile down the road. Very limited Verizon cell service.

Edit

The hosts Edd and Wanda were so much of what made this campground one of the best I've ever been to. They were warm, kind and had a respect for the land that's rarely seen. Without them I can say this campground does not have the magic it did and I...

This place probably was great at one time. It needs a camphost. It was disgusting. People have moved i to the sites and left them for when they want to come out. They are trashed. The vault toilets were trashed and the road is definitely used around the clock (not l8mited after 8pm). We had people driving through shining on our tent at all hours of the night. It was the first time i was u comfortable leaving my site to go down to the water for fear our stuff would be gone.

Camp hosts Ed and Wanda are the best! If you like swimming Washington rivers, this is the place! The campground is beautiful with large campsites nesseled in the trees so you don't really see your neighbors. If you want a site get there by Wednesday during the summer. This place fills up quick. There are so many swimming holes around, don't be afraid to make your way up or down river if you don't like the crowds.

Dougan Creek Falls Campground is a fantastic little gem of a campground set in a beautiful forest within walking distance of the falls. There are only a few non reservable sites and a couple of pit toilets but the surrounding area is so pretty that it’s worth taking the chance to drive out and maybe get a spot. I do recommend bringing your own TP as there may not be any in the facilities on busy days.
