The 5 stars are for nature. The Falls and pools are absolutely beautiful. The scenery is incredible, even on a smoky day. And I imagine it going back to it's prime after a rainfall to clean up all the human abuse. I can't wait to go back then! We arrived at 9:30 am on a Friday and had the whole place to ourselves for at least 2 hrs. After 12, the crowds arrived at a fast pace. As far as the humans who go to Dougan Falls, some could be better. We went to the upper Fall first but the smell of human presence was so bad that we moved to the lower part, where it was cleaner. Also it should not be hard to take what you brought with you back home. Not only garbage but your clothing and towels. So sad. If you go, take a garbage bag with you. There are picnic tables and bathrooms on the road to the campground about 100 to 200 feet...
Read moreIn my opinion, one of the most underrated and un-popular waterfalls pretty close to Portland. I believe during summer time it can be more crowded, and even not very clean or less water, but went there last November(2022), was cold, but very beautiful! The water color just amazing! And it's right next to the road and parking lot, so very accessible. Also consider that you need some pass for that, I think it's WA State Parks pass or something, but not the PNW Forest pass. So please check that beforehand. Hope you enjoy the photos I did there,...
