We were in town from Memphis, TN, and we stopped at Sugar Pop to get some cupcakes for my nephews Pre-K graduation. I didn't realize that the coast of Mississippi was left in devastation. The news only kept reporting on New Orleans & Louisiana, from what I recall. The museum is absolutely mind-blowing, from the marked water line on the wall (almost to the ceiling), all the news articles, photos & the one exhibition with the photos of floor tiles. Viewing everything made me feel grateful & blessed that I have not had to experience anything like this that Mother Nature has caused. I highly recommend visiting & giving a donation if you can & grab a delicious cupcake or sandwich cookie from Sugar Pop! I'd really like to come back & spend a little more time when we visit my family again with no time...

This is a wonderful museum that pays tribute to the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast that endured the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. There are artifacts, photographs, local art and videos that document the stories from the region during and following the landfall of the storm. This is a small museum with a big mission to tell an impressive and touching story about this region's determination and heroic sense of survival. We do not live in the area but have family in Waveland, Mississippi that lost most everything in the storm and rebuilt. This museum tells the triumphant and inspiring story of all that make their home on the Mississippi...

This is a must-see Museum when visiting Waveland. (Ground Zero for Hurricane Katrina). Amazing timeline leading up to and the aftermath of the storm. Be sure to watch the video in the video room and also grab a sandwich or cupcake from the adjoining Sugar Pop Bakery! The hurricane simulator in Discovery Alley is a new addition you will want to experience. You don't want to miss the exhibit showcasing Gulfport Assembly and their history here in Waveland (their 100 year anniversary is next month). So much of this coastal town history available...

Wife and I came out to the area for a day of Geocaching (look it up if you don't know what it is, it's fun) one of the caches brought us to this spot. Didn't know this was here so we decided to go in. Having lived through my own experience of Hurricane Katrina back in Louisiana, the things in this museum really hit home. Loved the way it's displayed in a timeline of events. Definitely brought back some unpleasant memories but also made me grateful that me and my family got through it and did not receive the worst of the Storm as so many others had.
