I’m a 32-year-old mathematician, professional swimmer, and a visibly practicing Muslim woman. I waited to write this review hoping that with time, the experience would feel less disappointing. It doesn’t.
While exploring new places to swim, I visited this facility. The water was muddy, and there were hardly any adults swimming — but that wasn’t the real issue.
I entered the water carefully, warming up while my friend stayed out. A lifeguard told me I couldn’t enter from that area — despite no signs being posted anywhere. I asked if I could swim in the lap lane area and was told no, even after clarifying that I’m a strong swimmer. Instead of clear rules, I watched lifeguards casually sitting around, avoiding the task of assigning one to supervise the lane. After about 15–20 minutes of being ignored and passed around, someone finally agreed to let me swim.
After completing a few laps, I was resting and talking to my friend. The same lifeguard approached again, telling me I had to be actively swimming or leave the water. It felt less about rules and more about unnecessary policing. My friend, who signed up for a life jacket at 4:20, waited over an hour and finally got one at 5:20. But once we entered the permitted area, another lifeguard blew a whistle and told us we couldn’t swim with a life jacket there — contradicting everything we were told and again, with zero signage. Ironically, we had seen others use life jackets in the same space before.
When we calmly approached the manager to offer constructive feedback — like posting rules clearly to avoid confusion and maintain safety — her response was dismissive: “There’s only a week and a half left, there’s nothing to do.” When my friend, frustrated but still respectful, said “you better do something,” the manager suddenly escalated the conversation by accusing her of making a threat. My friend didn’t even hear her, so I repeated it in disbelief: “A threat?!” The manager insisted yes, and accused her of implying she’d cause harm — a baseless, offensive interpretation that felt like an attempt to weaponize our frustration against us.
At one point, she even said: “Well, would you even read it if it were posted?” — implying that we wouldn’t follow the rules even if they existed. That tone was deeply condescending and unprofessional.
When I asked her name, she refused at first, then gave it reluctantly along with a phone number to call. Unfortunately, it didn’t end there.
She followed us to the front office, chatting with staff about us, clearly trying to reinforce her version of the story. Then she approached the changing room, looking for us again — not to de-escalate, but to stir more conflict. With a sarcastic tone, she asked if we got her name spelling correct, and mockingly asked if we were “okay.” I responded honestly: “No, we’re not okay —...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this facility. My friend and I are covered (hijabi) muslim woman. We were repeatedly warned by different staff members for every single thing we did — including being told to leave the lap area just for briefly pausing to talk. I guess we were expected to swim non-stop. The lap area was completely empty and had no lifeguard when we arrived. We had to ask for permission and wait 15 minutes for someone to come.
We followed every rule that was told to us, yet we were constantly watched and warned. When I brought this up to the manager, I gave constructive feedback — I suggested that instead of warning people for every little thing, they should clearly post the rules so guests know what’s allowed. Instead of de-escalating, the manager became aggressive, argued with me in public, and dismissed my concerns by saying the season was ending soon.
When she said she would listen and think about what could be done, I replied, “Yes, you better do.” — meaning I hoped she would follow through. She then accused me of threatening her, which was completely false and inappropriate. It felt like my words were deliberately twisted just to shut down the conversation.
Overall, the experience felt unfair, discriminatory, and racially biased. I left feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. I hope the facility takes this seriously and improves how staff treat guests — with professionalism, fairness,...
Read moreCute little man made lake with inflatable gym and a dock with a diving board. Lake was clean with a sandy shore line. There was plenty of space to lay out chairs and a blanket. The Lifeguards were well trained and very good at recognizing little swimmers who run out of steam in the deep end. Swimmers had to wear flotation devices on the inflatables but not in the deep end. There was ping pong and foosball in the pool house. The snack stand had a huge menu. All the staff was extremely polite. Bathrooms were clean. Overall, this place is cute and perfect for kids 12 years of age and under. It’s quite pricey for out of towners (weekend 25/adult, 20/child). If you’re looking for something different that is not a pool or the ocean, this is a great...
