Beautiful place! I would recommend starting at the small grotto of the rich young man, Jesus and the Law, and moving into the Stations. After going all the way up to see the Cross and Pieta, go back down and meditate with Jesus being laid in the Tomb. On the other side of the Cross is a Resurrection Shrine and lastly Jesus with the Sacred Heart and St Michael crushing the Enemy. Behind and below the Resurrection Shrine is a Nativity and Holy Family home in Nazareth.
One of the most breathtaking grotto shrines is the Nativity of Jesus INSIDE the Church! It's breathtaking! If you can help it, don't miss that one!! Personally, as a devout Catholic, I think as long as you're not being distracting, it's even okay to visit the shrine in the middle of services (Mass/Adoration/etc, as long as it's not a wedding or funeral or something like that).
May you be richly blessed by a Pilgrimage and or visitation to this...
Read moreAn absolutely incredible experience! The sheer size of this grotto and the overwhelming amount of detail is unfathomable! Every twist and turn, every height, keeps your mind whirling at the awesomeness! It’s almost too much to take in in one day. To feel the enormity of the project, the attention to detail, the historic accomplishment is almost impossible! It is, to say the least, beautiful.
The stations of the cross, Jesus in Mary’s arms at the bottom of the cross, the nativity, so many holy events in Jesus life. The statuary, the petrified wood, stones from all over the world, seashells, coral, way too many to list. The church is magnificent! I was fortunate to spend a little time praying in the church, it was wonderful to feel The Presence there. Definitely go. Don’t think about it, just go. You and your family will never forget it as one of the most impressive...
Read moreIf I could tell you one thing about this exquisite and unique attraction it’s this: The pictures do not do this place justice. It may be a bit of a drive if you’re not traveling through but there are really pretty grounds with trees and bench’s, a water feature with swans, a playground, gift shop with religious material, an ice cream shop, museum and of course the grotto. Built with a collection of stones, shells, geodes and crystals gathered nationwide the sheer beauty of the materials artistically displayed is awe inspiring. For those who are believers, seeing the story of Man and Christ unfolded in such detail is truly touching. If you’re not a believer I believe it would still be an interesting stop for the beauty that abounds. Ponder the beauty, the work it took to create and even the meaning of life and your unique purpose. To God...
