We normally love coming to the palm beach zoo, but the Christmas lights experience was a serious disappointment. First of all, if you are unable to park near the zoo entrance and have to park across the street, it is poorly lit, close to a mile in walking if you're unable to park in one of the first few lots, and no security doing patrols meaning you are in a high risk situation for being mugged or possibly worse (especially concerning for single parents).
Secondly, they clearly oversell tickets to this attraction. As a parent to an autistic child that is an eloper this is especially concerning because you literally don't have hardly an inch of space to maneuver. It would be nice if they at least offered a more restricted sensory friendly night so special needs children could enjoy the lights and zoo safe and comfortably.
Finally, we went on a night Santa was supposed to be there. Our five year old daughter was broken hearted because despite our best efforts we simply could not find where santa even was. There were no signs, and with the mess of people it was impossible to find a worker to ask.
For the money spent going it was extremely disappointing overall. The merry-go-round ride was the most enjoyable part of our trip. The lights were lovely, but there were so many people it was nearly impossible to get any decent photos without another group inching up on you or photo bombing.
All in all this was extremely disappointing and I will not be recommending this attraction to anyone...
Read moreIt was... Okay. After having been to Fairchild, this was a little rough of an experience. Right off the bat, I wouldn't tell anyone in your party that you're going to the zoo. My MIL was so excited to see animals at night, but they were all asleep (understandably so).
The most exciting thing is the dancing and popcorn by the Christmas tree... From there it's just lights. There's not much interactivity wise past that point. It was a nice walk, but depending on where you're coming from... Not really worth it.
The parking was packed and we did so across the street. They hire trollies to shuttle guests back and forth but we were happy to walk. Inside is just a whole bunch of that... Walking. There's not a lot in the way of actitivies. There's a Santa station, but that also had a line and we weren't interested but that seems to be...
Read moreWe enjoyed zoo lights on a Sunday and the parking lot was full as many families were there. Although we arrived at 6pm, the zoo was already full. We were able to see the flamingos, owls and an alligator in their enclosures. The lights were beautiful and so was the huge Christmas tree in the center of the zoo. They had great music playing throughout the park, fake snow (bubbles) falling for the kids, visit with santa (photo op), cookie making, concession stands, light up souvenirs etc. We stayed for about an hour before realizing that we'd already seen everything. Great experience for families. The price point was where a star was knocked off on this review. For the price we paid, the carousel should have been included but the zoo was charging $3 a ride..which was pretty short. All in all we had a nice time but we won't be back...
