Love Game Master! We have purchased games for our family from here for years. Phil is wonderful to talk to and has a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of games. These days, I just wander in when it's time for a new game at our house and ask Phil what he recommends. There is a nice amount inventory all the time. Although we don't do it, I know that there various game competitions and playing there in the evenings. Also, in the back, there many of the more popular board games on the shelves. Don't know which one to get or don't understand it or just want to try it? Just play it through it once back there.
On a side note. We own and play many games with our family. There are tremendous games out there today at places like Game Master. Games like Monopoly, Sorry and Life are classics, yes. But there are much better, more sophisticated, better produced games out there to be had. We jumped on that band wagon a while ago and have benefitted greatly as a family. Instead of going to one movie, we can buy a game and play it for years.
Go see Phil. Get some great games for your family. He'll get you started. But if you need some ideas: Settlers of Catan, Railways of the World, Seven Wonders, Ticket to Ride, Agricoloa, Puerto Rico,...
Read moreNot really having played games like these for about twenty years, I didn't know what to expect when I walked into this shop. OK, I did know what I expected: a bunch of Comic Book Guys from the Simpsons - a collection of supernerds with a superiority complex in their own little microcosm.
What I found instead was Phil Glotfelty: an absolutely awesome everyday guy who happens to love gaming. He was very willing and able to help me find fun games for my ten year old, making recommendations that made sense for us instead of a ton of money for him. It was a pleasure dealing with him, and the whole aura of the store reflected his personality: the clientele were warm and friendly, inviting us to play with them and explaining the games as we went along - it was a blast! I've never seen a store quite like it: there are tables everywhere, and you're just welcome to sit down and play if you feel like it.
I always prefer to keep my business local, and stores like this are exactly why. Skip buying from Amazon and go in and talk to the people that can actually help you; I can't tell you how glad you'll be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting this board game shop, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The selection of board games is absolutely fantastic, with an incredible variety to cater to every taste and level of expertise. The staff was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly and eager to help. They made excellent recommendations and were happy to answer all my questions.
The shop itself is well-organized, making it easy to find what you're looking for, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Whether you're a seasoned board game enthusiast or a newbie looking to dive into this wonderful hobby, this shop has something for everyone.
I was also pleased to find a dedicated space for gaming events and gatherings. It's clear that they foster a sense of community among board gamers, which is a big plus in my book.
Overall, I can't recommend Game Masters enough. If you're looking for a wide selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go. Five stars, and I'll definitely be returning for more...
