This is thee best haunted experience hands down in Metro Detroit. The history alone here lends itself to absolute mystery and fear. The building is historic and well renovated for safety and ambiance. You park immediately when you drive in, and go to a small parking shed where you pay. Walk down through the parking lot and through metal detectors and wanding. Down through an alley between two buildings. Walk right into a mini midway carnival area with games and food. They didn't take Samsung Pay but took Apple pay. Have a nice collection of clothing to buy. The walk through horror garden with animatronics was a fun intro into the experience. Scary stages set up and actors in costumes walking about you can take photos with. We got the VIP passes, so we did the haunt quicker and came at 7, so we avoided the crush of people. Highly recommend that time if you want a thinner crowd on a Friday night. Go into this as an EXPERIENCE, and you will love it. Like most haunts, they have to balance safety with frights. So many people want to be scared so bad they are constantly afraid, and that is not reasonable with so many people coming through. The entire set is Universal Studios quality. Animatronics, fog, actors, high-quality props and lighting, and travel in a small group. I have been going to haunted houses for years, and so I know how to give a proper review. You will feel "fun fear" and at times "uncomfortable fear," and once you hit the basement, "real fear." Expect all 3 and that this should be taken in as an EXPERIENCE as a whole, and then you will walk away satisfied. So many picky people complain about fear levels when the entire enterprise is so sophisticated that it is professional grade quality. The basement was separate from the main building, and so you come out of one building and go outside, which is a nice breathing break from indoors, and then you go down the stairs into the basement. You can choose different ways to go, apparently, because my friend and I ended up alone, lol! It got intense down there! Smaller and tighter, it becomes as you wind through bug sacs and floor to ceiling animatronics and dark, dark spaces and the actual morgue with white drawers of vintage bone color. There are areas that were amazing and sophisticated, and others that scared me as to become slightly claustraphobic and genuinely afraid. It is in the tightness and darkness that your fear grows and accumulates, and by the time you emerge, you are happy to gulp the cool, night air! 75 bucks for the VIP tickets and well worth it. Walked around outside after and enjoyed that area, too. I highly recommend this experience and that you wear comfortable shoes that will not make you slip. This haunt has technology only 20 places in the world have, cold spark pyrotechnics and Universal Studios quality props. The actors will touch you and put their hands in your hair and on your arms, so be aware of this, but you cannot touch them. Actors bring a fun and jump-scare element to the historical and creepy atmosphere. Do not be one of those Halloween haunted houses purist and bash what is best described as a 3 stage experience, and you will have a blast! Realize and respect the digital mapping, the high-grade props, and the history here as the largest psychiatric asylum in America. I will go again. It takes a little piece from you each time you go into a building, and that exhilaration and fun make this an experience worth having. You cannot bring your cell phone and use it inside the buildings and will get kicked out if you do, but you can use it outside. Bring your friends and enjoy the total EXPERIENCE, and you will not be disappointed. My favorite was the padded room that tilted sharply about 40 degrees and had a tall actor in a straight jacket. Wow, was that wild! Another tunnel that makes you dizzy with color and moment is a challenge, so please be aware of this. Rooms and displays are at times horrific and other times like walking through a movie set. Go. It is absolutely worth it. The drive out is equally spooky!

Maybe it’s because it’s the last night of this haunted house that it was the way it was, but I’ve been here the past 3 years and never had this experience here. It was pure garbage this year. We had nasty stuff thrown on us, had a worker 2 minutes in grab my hands and rub some gross substance all over them that wasn’t easy to get off of my hands and nasty stuff put in my hair later. We (group of 4) left with maple syrup on us, I’m guessing that’s what it was as it smells like it and it’s certainly drying like syrup in my hair, and other miscellaneous stuff. There was a waiver to sign, which I don’t recall prior years but maybe last year there was a waiver, but only after you buy your tickets. Last year if there was a waiver, it was the same verbiage and no actors touched us and dirtied us up with gross stuff. We bought tickets online and no waiver was presented, and furthermore the waiver doesn’t explicitly state the actors touch you and throw gross stuff on you. As someone who has come prior years, when the rules change and they can grab my hair and my arm and our hands and put gross stuff on me I expect that to be EXPLICITLY laid out. I have never been to any haunted house where that’s just “expected.” The rules have always been “you don’t touch them and they won’t touch you” at every haunted house I’ve been to, including this one in the prior years. I’ve never been touched in a haunted house let alone mucked up with my hands dirty with sticky shit and black paint or whatever. Also never left with syrup in my hair. And it’s not just a little bit either, see the photo attached for how much syrup was in my hair. Afterward we were told we could’ve had necklaces that let them know not to touch you, but that was not posted anywhere by the entrance or told to us as we signed these waivers with generic language implying that it’s an old building and anything that could occur due to that fact, they will not be held liable for. Which I get that and that’s understandable, but again NO language referencing the context of the changes to this haunted house. My husband had his glasses knocked off by a rather aggressive actor after he said not to touch him because he had goo on his hand and was persistent and proceeded to smother it in his hair and on his face anyway. I told an actor to let my arm go and they came back and grabbed my arm and pulled me back. I don’t find anything about this fun especially when I’ve been here before prior years and this has never happened. It was foul and unenjoyable. Glad I have to shower again today though I showered right before coming and wash all my freshly cleaned clothes again I literally changed into just to come here because there’s shit everywhere. I love a haunted house, but this isn’t it.

Very impressed with the general theme and layout of the asylum. This haunted house is located in the what was once a mental asylum. The props and actors were top notch, couldn't have been better. It was quickly evident they put a lot of time and money into this attraction. I wasn't aware of the basement portion after the first floor part. The basement was my favorite of all as there were more visual effects and other cool things they did down there. As a warning, the actors will touch you. Nothing at all aggressive, just a light touch to scare you when you're not paying attention and it actually made this so much better. It's much more interactive than other haunted houses I've been to. One complaint; allowing large groups to enter together. When there's 10 people infront of you, it takes the thrill out of it. You pretty much know what's coming. I'd highly recommend getting the VIP passes. You'll bypass the regular line and get right in. Your wait time is nearly nothing with the vip passes. Definitely one of if not the best haunted attraction in SE Michigan! Update 10-14-23: This year they've definitely changed some things for the better. First, they have started spacing groups out a bit further which was my only problem I had with it last year. That made it so much better! I was still fascinated with the set up and all the touches inside on the first floor (the old medicine bottles, medical equipment, props, everything that adds to the theme) I think a behind the scenes tour of it would be cool as hell. All in all, they really made it even better than last year which is hard to believe. Definitely deserving of a 5 star now.

We went to Eloise tonight with high hopes it was 65 a piece for VIP tickets and we are glad we paid, the wait otherwise was easily about 2 hours for both attractions. The asylum was okay, not to scary, not that big, not a lot going on in general. We walked though a lot of nothing, though the few actors we saw were good. We walked though in groups of 10-15 and caught the group in front of us, so we walked slower and waited for a bit in a room to give them some space. We also walked through the same rooms more then once with not wall between it, you could see the people on the other side. It was fast maybe a 10 min walk with pretty much no real jump scares or animatronics in it. The basement was the other walk though there, it was much better and had a lot more detail to it. You walked through more elaborate alien themed rooms. They had some pretty cool details and a few walk though bridges that were pretty neat. They also had a pretty cool electricity room that was 10/10 to me it was neat to watch. We walked through this one in about 10-15 mins too. The wait times on the both houses with VIP were about 10 mins each or less. We walked through in groups of 10-15 people both times and both times we caught the people in front of us. I think this haunt needs more years to get it right and get the timing and add things to the house. It was fun, maybe worth like 25 bucks, not the 65 we each paid. Overall there was not much going on inside and a lot of blank spaces, i hope with more years in time they will get better....it has potential but its not quite there yet.

Step into the shadowy halls of Eloise Asylum, and you’ll find a setting straight out of your darkest nightmares—eerily immersive, perfectly crafted, and full of unsettling atmosphere. From the flickering lights to the chilling medical ward setups, the theming of this haunted house is nothing short of spine-tingling. It’s clear the designers poured their twisted hearts into making every corner look like a slice of horror history. But here’s where the screams stop short. Despite the bone-chilling environment, the jump scares were more like soft whispers in the night. If you’re craving that heart-pounding terror and jolting frights that leave your pulse racing, you might find yourself waiting in vain. The moments meant to send you flying out of your skin seem few and far between. As for the performances—while the actors certainly looked the part with their creepy costumes and makeup—their scares felt a little, well, under the weather. Instead of frenzied fear, they brought more of a yawn-worthy vibe, lacking the energy and intensity you’d expect in such a ghoulishly grand setting. In short, if you’re all about the eerie vibes and love to soak in the sinister scenery, Eloise Asylum delivers on the spooky setting. But if it’s edge-of-your-seat terror and blood-pumping thrills you’re after, this haunt may leave you wanting more. Here’s hoping next time they turn up the fright factor to match the haunted hospital perfection of the set!

We recently visited Eloise Asylum and it was hands down one of the best haunted attractions I’ve experienced. From the moment you enter, eerie sounds coming from every direction, and actors who are fully committed to giving you the scare of a lifetime. The Set Design: The attention to detail in the set design is incredible. Every room feels like its own horror movie. The lighting and special effects added layers of suspense, making each twist and turn unpredictable. The Actors: The actors were phenomenal! They weren’t just jumping out to scare you; they were truly immersed in their characters, whether playing creepy ghosts, deranged clowns, or sinister spirits. Some followed you through entire sections, building tension, while others would appear out of nowhere, sending chills down your spine. The Storyline: What I loved most was that it wasn’t just random scares. There was a cohesive storyline that tied the whole experience together, making it feel like you were part of an unfolding nightmare. It added depth and made the scares even more effective because you got invested in the plot. Overall Experience: The entire experience was well-organized, from ticketing to the haunted sections themselves. The staff was friendly (outside of the scares, of course!), I would highly recommend this attraction to anyone looking for a fun, terrifying night out. It’s definitely a must-visit this Halloween season!
