The Southwest Cove Beach is one of my favorite places in the world. I've been going there for more than 25 years and I'm sorry that since 2017 it has become way more popular a d visited. Weekends in the summer can be very crowded. It used to be secluded and quiet with a few kayaks, canoes and an occasional motor boat. We counted 12motor boats one day last summer, some with radio music playing. Its tiny so it fills up fast. It still has beautiful views, lovely swimming and walking trails. After years of us all being told to maintain the pristine natural beauty of the place and after locals tried to prevent tree removal and development, in 2022 the State began building parking lots to accommodate tourists.
