Enter with an open mind and enjoy the views. Most locals are chill... but, remember, we have spent our lives here and this place has just recently trended and the tourist traffic increased tenfold... with that comes disrespect for the land and people coming to relax. Common courtesy goes a long way with the good ol Vermonters (and Fish & Game Warden) who keep will continue to ensure this place is a peaceful retreat, for all. 🙂✌

Great spot to setup and spend some time in the clear water. Lots of trees and other fun things to check out underwater if you have a snorkel and mask. Could easily see the bottom 15-20 feet down. Nice warm water in August. Amazing view of the cliffs on both sides of the lake.

The Southwest Cove Beach is one of my favorite places in the world. I've been going there for more than 25 years and I'm sorry that since 2017 it has become way more popular a d visited. Weekends in the summer can be very crowded. It used to be secluded and quiet with a few kayaks, canoes and an occasional motor boat. We counted 12motor boats one day last summer, some with radio music playing. Its tiny so it fills up fast. It still has beautiful views, lovely swimming and walking trails. After years of us all being told to maintain the pristine natural beauty of the place and after locals tried to prevent tree removal and development, in 2022 the State began building parking lots to accommodate tourists. I wonder how long it will remain so quiet...

One of the most photographed and popular coves in all of Vermont--but for good reason as it's a stunning spot with the fjord-like cliffs of Mt Hor and Pisgah right in front of you. Gets VERY busy on summer weekends and there is not a lot in terms of infrastructure to support the amount of visitors the area sees. Route 5A is a very busy state highway and cars and trucks come roaring down the hill in...
