This is probably around the 5th or more time I have bought season passes for my large family for Castaway Cove. The staff is under paid and have to do several jobs other than just their own position(I know because 2 of my daughters work(ed) there). The place is overpriced and is not well maintained. It's very disappointing that many things in the kid section does not work. Simple things that could easily be fixed. They haven't worked for several summers. Take them out if they are not going to be fixed.
Being able to see what all the staff have to deal with at the pay they receive shows that Castaway Cove is not equipped to handle business in a smart way. They overcharge and the money is not being spent properly to maintain this company(I'm really trying to make this a point). I honestly would pay even more to get in IF everything worked and was maintained at a more timely manner. One summer there was a hole in the deck where a large water gun had set. I figured it would take a few days to a week to fix. It was not fixed in a safe way until after summer had finished. I understand parts take time to come in. However, that whole section should have been closed down. It was not safe!
The overpriced food doesn't even bother me. I even enjoy that they have an outside shadded area by the parking lot to bring in outside food. However, I will not buy another pass until some big changes are made. I wish another water park would be brought in to force Castaway Cove into cleanup mode and to reevaluate how things are done! Why in the world did I buy season passes again this year?! Never again! And the one star that I had to give only goes to the hard working staff. Castaway Cove would be nothing if it wasn't for the handleful of people that keep that place alive for...
Read moreMy family went on Saturday, May 24th. Overall, it seemed as if the staff didn't care at all about the cleanliness of the park or how it affected everyone else. The water was full of debris from both leaves and trash, and I asked if they would net it out, to which they had to confer for 15 minutes until they half-heartedly cleaned out the stairs by the tiki bar. The water was foamy from oils, grass, leaves, and hair. Spilled food stayed on the walkway above the stairs on the bridge for hours. Nobody cleaned it. I don't trust the water quality after our first visit. The bathrooms were disgusting, and walkways had muddy, slippery puddles. Tiles were broken along the walls of the lazy river. The new slide was great, and lifeguards were nice and helpful. My problem is with management. They roved around and didn't do anything useful even when asked. Seemed like opening weekend wasn't important or management is completely incompetent. I'll post and update again when we go again. UPDATE We have visited twice since the last review. There is a noticeable difference in the attempt to clean the park and restrooms. A lot of repairs need to be made to sink faucets and pool tiles. A general uplift is in order. Lifeguards seem to be miserable, and staff is not openly friendly, rather resentful toward the public. The 2 grumpy female managers that roam seem to be the problem. Also, why have a shaded "tiki bar" in the pool with alcohol served in the adjacent building and not even allowed to keep drinks on the side of the pool? I have to get all the way out to take a sip and then...
Read moreFun day with the family. The staff was nice, interactive with guests and helpful when needed nothing negative to say or concerns there. Now I would say to maybe do more mechanical work/planning work on the green loop slide as my niece did get stuck. Although that sounds scary they do have protocols and are prompt to release you, just seemed to happen more than you'd expect for what seemed to be a popular attraction. My only other complaint/concern would be the choice in materials to build the WHOLE park. From the lazy river to all the pools it's scraps and cuts galore to come. The lazy river is low in my opinion to start I think it should be at least 4 to 4.5 ft at least but the shallowness is exacerbated with the floors and walls being torture traps. I remember going as a kid and never once can think of a time that being was an issue at this park or any other. That needs to be fixed asap because that can become a health issue if it isn't already. The water seemed to be clean but you never know. The only people who didn't come out with multiple places injured are my 2 small children and that is only because they couldn't touch the ground and/or were lucky to have swim shoes and long sleeves with vests/floats adding a bumper to the walls. I will end with the park is a good place to take your family, but do remember to be FULLY covered with long sleeves and swimming shoes to avoid both the sun and death by...
