McCormick School is a Wichita treasure! You are greeted at the entrance with the nostalgic atmosphere of an old school building that will take you back to some of your earliest memories. Read moreI really enjoyed this museum. The woodwork, architectural style brought back memories. I just felt I had been here before. Very organized, the volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful with added information. The school could definitely need some funding!! I had actually purchased a set of WPA dolls of which were from/made in Wichita off EBay and they offered a folder with a wealth of added information. So cool!! Some of the desks I recognized and so neat to see how things were done in the past. Worth the time and would like to go back. They also have events coming up. Love...
Read moreI’ve been here several times to view the museum and loved it. As a retired USD 259 teacher, I had some great connections to much of what is on display: from the kinds of desks I had in my classrooms to school pride memorabilia on display.
Probably the most overlooked part of the museum is the vast amount of material in their archives that is available to the public for research. My son and I found information about a favorite teacher of his while another couple found old records of their parents during their time in school.
