We didn’t even get to swim. Got to the check in gate, handed the young girl a hundred dollar bill & she laughed and said our money was fake. We were shocked! What? There is no way. We have spent our cash all weekend. Checked all the signs to verify it was real (government strip, water marks, blue & red “hairs”) & she still said fake. Even went as far as writing “fake” on the money. After we asked if she had a verifying marker. She embarrassed us & treated us like we were criminals. We asked for a manager. Nothing. Just told us we had fake money. As we were walking back up to the lodge, we even asked a few people. And those few people said, wow. Looks like the money is legit. I’m not sure if there was generational gap here, but because it’s a 2003 bill does not mean it’s fake. So we walked to the lodge to speak to someone, and the front desk girl was just rude. I just always had enough courtesy to address guest & patrons differently. She had no concern about our issue & basically told us, oh well. I’m sure the atmosphere is great out here & it would of been a lot of fun, but this really turned us off on even coming back. So embarrassing. I guess do not bring anything larger than a 20 if you want to swim or just pay with a card. Oh and scan the QR for the waiver before getting...
Read moreAs far as the swimming hole goes, I would not recommend this place for anyone with the slightest sense of self preservation. We packed up our dogs and some chairs, planning to spend the day out there. When we pulled up, it was a sea of people (at least 100) with zero masks in sight. I understand this is outdoors, but everyone was bottlenecked at the bar and entrance, and it was a pandemic nightmare. I have no respect for the folks managing the waterfront, there should be at least some rules enforced and maybe a capacity limit. Their website seemed to indicate some kind of entrance regulation, but that was clearly not the case. Very disappointed. On the other hand, if you're looking for a nice, socially distant swimming hole with actual rangers enforcing capacity, check out Reimers Ranch by Hamilton Pool. Animal friendly and...
Read moreHad never heard of this place before until I was told about it by the folks at Blue Hole. But now that I found it, will probably be back to enjoy again! Very large and spacious water area for swimming, nice grassy shaded area along the side of the river for laying out and having a picnic. There's also a damn that you can walk across to the opposite shore, where there is an overhang on a shaded cliff face that allows you to kick back and relax, and enjoy feeling part of nature. And the best part was we were greeted by an incredibly kind and helpful staff member, Beth, who really took care of our family! So as an alternative to the over-popular and crowded Blue Hole, it is definitely worth...
