Where to begin? First the hallway smells like a hospital. The rooms were hot and had NO thermostat to set room temp. Went to front desk & asked if they controlled the room temperature and they said yes. Now why can't the customer control their own room temperature? After all we are paying the bill. The room has a large window which is great to look outside, but after dark when privacy becomes a concern, the curtains (some parts of the curtain you could see through) did not block the window enough to keep people from seeing in the room. Since there wasn't a coffee maker in the room, when I woke the next morning at 4:45 am I went to the lobby looking for coffee and was told by the attendant that coffee wouldn't be available until they set-up for the continental breakfast. Luckily the attendant offered to make a cup for me. Room was extremely dim and the outlets in the room were behind the bed & chest of drawers. The outlet behind the chest of drawers was an add on made of two outlets in a metal box. We had to purchase extension cords to reach the outlets so we could recharge our electronic devices. The bathroom had only one outlet that was part of the light fixture. This outlet is withing 6 feet of a water outlet and was not GFCI protected. This is a SERIOUS VIOLATION of the National Electric Code. This has been a requirement for bathrooms for over 20 years. In the bathroom my wife had to use an extension cord to use hair dryer & curling iron. Luckily these devices came with GFCI protection when they were purchase. Just imagine what will happen when somebody gets electrocuted while using an outlet in the bathroom that is required to have GFCI protection. So to sum up our stay: If you want to stay at place and have absolutely no expectations (in comparison to other places), then this is the place for you. ...

The beds are very old full size, but sheets are clean. The comforter was nice and clean. The throw blankets and pillow were dirty.|2. The rooms are VERY small with interesting antiques. You will stub your toe getting to the bathroom and you can't hardly open the closet door because the door hits the bed.|3. The bathroom is TINY and does not have wall plugs and was dirty, broken towel rod, weak water pressure. No tub, shower only.|4. The curtains do not cover the window, and you have no privacy. The curtains therefore do not block out any of the early morning light either.|5. It took forever to get warm water... I mean about 4 minutes... and then it was great, very hot... but only got a drizzle in the sink, shower water pressure was okay. There is no countertop in the bath for getting ready.|6. Sherry, the registration clerk was AWESOME. Friendly, helpful, thoughtful and efficient.|7. The food that we received from our order was good... some of our order was never served. It took an hour to get the food we did receive food after ordering. |8. The TV control would not turn on or off nor increase or decrease the volume. But you could change stations. You had to turn the TV on underneath the tv itself. |9. The morning coffee was appreciated ... good and strong!|10. The parking lot is uneven so be careful. Also, the trees hang with very low branches, be careful walking around or you will have a branch in your face.|11. You have to move the nightstand to get to a wall plug for you charger and or a sleep apnea machine.|12. The Wi-Fi is hit and miss.|13. They were very pet friendly which we appreciated for our Yorkie, but the carpet down the hallway was very dirty... keep...

Response to Owner: My stay wasn't "less than satisfactory": It was Non-existent!! What does allowing dogs in hotel rooms have to do with people visiting their family & friends over holidays? That makes no sense. Let me find the email that YOU sent us, that states your pet policy is "No Pets Allowed" and I'll post it here for others to read. Then tell me it says "case by case". You're making up rules as you go along.

The receptionist did NOT apologize when she refunded our money. She said, "That's ok. Here's your refund." She was flippant and unapologetic like it was OUR fault. Very unprofessional. It was NOT ok to put us out at 9pm on a Friday night!! She never said she was sorry you changed your policy. You did not notify us by phone or email before we drove out there for the weekend!! You're right, the dogs were NOT unattended, but the people next to us made NO effort to quiet their barking dogs whenever anyone walked down the hall.

So, if your patrons are ok with barking dogs, when they walk into their room or walking down the hall, or potentially anytime during the middle of the night, then they can take their chances. They changed the pet policy they emailed us without telling us. When we told the receptionist there were barking little dogs next to us, she said they now allow dogs. They changed their pet policy. They refunded our money without an apology. At close to 9PM we had to find somewhere else to stay on Friday night. If you don't mind yapping dogs next to you that you can hear through the walls...then take...

You're gonna wanna take advantage of a few things while here: 1. Order Pizza from Claude's 2. Hang out by the Swimming Hole. 3. Hang out by the Pool. 4. Enjoy the Live Music at the Bar! When we showed up at The Lodge, it was because we wanted to unwind and enjoy some peace in nature. We were welcomed by staff like we had been friends for years, and the staff at Claude's (including Chef Thomas) really made our stay here the MOST MEMORABLE TIME I've had all year. If I was you, I'd order pizza throughout my entire stay. It was fantastic and it's a little small town gem that I hope not everyone finds out about because I plan on going back. The rooms are great, water was hot, and the beds were comfortable. The staff at the front desk were all very welcoming and charming, they showed us around and suggested a timeline for our stay which ended up being perfect for what we needed. Seeing the sunset in wimberly in beautiful, and having a a bar, pizza spot, and pool within a rock's throw is ultimately the best feature here. Sure, you could go into town but why would you need to? These photos are from Claude's Cafe, the place you need to check out.

We loved this layed back place. It kept my kids tablet or phone out of their hands and kept them hungry for the outdoors. We visited the cypress falls creek, it was a beauty. Then the kids went swimming at the lodges pool and since our stay was random we left our water floats home but the lodge had water floats and accessories available in a chest near the swimming pool,so awesome. After that, they had a fire going with Smores supplies. My kids were ecstatic they never had Smores before. After so they had a kids movie playing.with nice sofas in the Texan room. They also had star charts available, so my kids went out pointing out the different stars..so cute. It was extremely quiet, perfect, and so cozy. It is an older hotel, it doesnt have tons of electric outlets, or you can not change the temp of room on your own, and may be the internet may not reach you. But because how my kids are always with phones or tablets this got them off of it and outdoors being entertained here. I loved it. Brale helped us through the whole stay she was very sweet and very helpful. Last but not least I loved the big window in our room.

The lodge is really adorable and cute in this fashionable hill country way. The staff is super nice and welcoming and seemed to be ready to help you at a moments notice. We went for a mid week getaway and spent two nights. We had completely different experiences on night 1 vs night2. It seems like your enjoyment of the hotel is based on who ever happens to be staying with you. On the first night there were lots of families with kids and several people with dogs. We could hear everything going on in the hallway all the way till around 11pm. Then at night there were all sorts of strange sounds that woke us up. Bizarre clanking and knocking sounds coming from the walls and we could hear when our neighbor flushed the toilet. Then at 7am we were woken up by a few kids going to breakfast. We couldn't sleep past 7:15. It was pretty tough. Then night 2 it was pretty dead at the lodge and we slept like little babies. So it seems to be hit or miss. The pool is great but the restaurant is closed due to covid so bring a cooler.
