Woodstock Nordic Center — Attraction in Woodstock

I was told over the phone that they had x-country skis to rent, but when I arrived in-person -- they said I'd been misinformed. I mentioned the staff member who had given me a quote and sized my skis and boots over the phone. They continued to contradict what I'd been told over the phone without any explanation of how this confusion arose. While there was a foot of snow on the ground, and others were skiing right outside their door -- they claimed all ski trails were closed. So instead of providing any of the services they advertised and confirmed over the phone -- they had some six staff members sitting on chairs, twiddling their thumbs doing nothing. I thought maybe I'd check out their apparel upstairs, but decided to pass on a $40 baseball cap. Poor service, poor communication, poor value -- all around...

I had a fantastic experience at Woodstock Nordic Center! My private lesson with Doug was outstanding—he's an incredible instructor who explains everything in detail, from ski and pole anatomy to body positioning and technique. His coaching was thorough, helpful, and packed with great pointers that made a real difference. I’m a relatively new cross country skier, but I don’t think I’m wrong in reporting that this place is absolutely fantastic! There is such incredible diversity of terrain, from plenty of beautifully groomed flat trails meandering along brooks and through meadows to all sorts of varied trails heading up the mountainside. They had a well stocked gear shop and the rental process was quick and simple. The staff was friendly and helpful, as were the other skiers—I got some technique tips from a friendly gentlemen and am very appreciative! Can’t wait...
