Let’s begin with the positives: the venue itself is absolutely stunning—both the indoor and outdoor spaces are beautifully maintained and create a wonderful ambiance. The Red Rooster restaurant delivers high-quality food, and a few of the staff members were genuinely warm and attentive. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, which we truly appreciated.||Now, for the less favorable side of our experience:||Although the hotel advertises itself as pet-friendly and welcoming to service animals, I would not recommend staying here if you’re traveling with a dog. We stayed with two small, well-trained service dogs (6-pound Pomeranians) and informed the hotel ahead of time. While service animals are trained, they are still animals—and like any living creature, they can react when startled.||On our last evening, after two previously uneventful dinners at the hotel restaurant, a child ran up to our dogs unexpectedly, causing one of them to bark. The manager approached us and stated that dogs are not allowed to bark (as if there were a switch for that 🤣). I suggested we sit outside to minimize any disruption, but he declined, saying there were no tables available. He also remarked that our leash was too long (it was about four feet) and insisted I couldn’t hold the dog on my lap—even as a way to calm it. With no offered alternatives, we chose to leave the restaurant.||A separate incident occurred when we left the dogs in the room for just 90 minutes one morning—the only time they were not with us during our two-day stay. Apparently, there were complaints about barking. While we completely understand that noise can disturb other guests, we were disappointed that the front desk didn’t call to inform us. I was only five minutes away and would have returned immediately. Instead, upon returning, we were greeted curtly—no “good morning,” no courtesy—just a blunt request for our room number, followed by a scolding about leaving dogs unattended. We immediately apologized and agreed it wouldn’t happen again, but the conversation turned unnecessarily condescending. We felt like we were being lectured rather than respectfully addressed.||Customer service was consistently underwhelming.||At check-in, there was no valet or offer of assistance. I struggled with three large suitcases while three staff members at the front desk chatted among themselves, visibly ignoring my situation. Not one offered help or even asked if I needed any.||To be clear, we don’t claim to have been perfect guests—but we were always polite and respectful. We simply expected the same in return. It’s not about what is said, but how it’s said. We’ve traveled extensively with our service animals and have never encountered treatment like this.||At checkout, when I mentioned I’d be leaving a negative review, the staff showed no concern whatsoever. And, once again, no one offered help with the luggage. After reading other guest reviews, it seems that rudeness and poor customer service are recurring issues at this hotel.||In conclusion:||This property has so much potential thanks to its beautiful design and excellent restaurant. However, the glaring lack of hospitality and empathy from the staff significantly tainted our experience. I sincerely urge the hotel’s management to invest in proper customer service training. A venue of this caliber should deliver a much higher standard of guest care—especially if it hopes to uphold the promises its...
Read moreOn the early morning before arrival a storm enveloped the east coast. We called to see about the flooding and road conditions. We were concerned of power failures and a long drive there. However after multiple attempts since their phone system was out of order due to the storm, we were assured that all was intact and no issues with weather and flooding. I asked about potentially coming another day and was told no no refunds or flexibility. I spoke to local public safety and they confirmed the area was under a flood watch and areas had some flooding.
So we hopped in the car for a 4 1/2 ride in this wonderful weather, upon reaching there several things were not functioning due to the weather , the gym was flooded area or path too it was flooded due to the severity of the rain. The locals ( employees) were developing plans on how to leave and avoid flooded road areas.
We checked in and were told wow long way and with this weather must have been a crazy drive. I told them the story but since we were there wanted to make the best of it. The staff truly tries hard to provide service but it seems corporate is not on the same customer service page.
We had made reservations for 630 pm in the tavern . However we arrived at 625 and was told the table wasn’t ready since they don’t like to rush people out and want people to enjoy their experience. So around 645 we were seated , the food was very amazing great portions and tasted amazing. We ordered a dessert and with that came the check before the desert albeit forgetting about enjoying the experience. I get it, so we paid and left rather quickly and took the desert to go . Yes we enjoyed our after dinner on the chair watching the voice . It took approximately an hour from being seated to leaving.
I have been to a lot of amazing hotels around the world and for the price they charge here , I was surprised with lack of customer relations. I’m sure the Rockefeller wealth wasn’t acquired being super nice to common people, but I figured since this was about an experience for my wife I could at least partake in this experience. I guess I can understand the term robber barons a little more clearer. It actually turned out to be a not so good time. The staff tries real hard but this is in fact a FOR PROFIT business and the ethics and culture of that is self evident.
The food at dinner was very good, breakfast was average at best. I would suggest another local inn pretty close by . We went to the other inn since we did love the area, they were extremely warm and transparent about the policies .
We really wanted to make this a great winter wonderland vacation. But instead we had a winter storm nightmare.
Please ask about the policies about your stay and restaurant reservations are floating so keep that in mind.
Overall I’d say the dinner was very good, the checking and reservation department were cold and rude, service personnel were very kind. The hotel is a bit dated and I could use the gym due to the weather.
The location and the town is truly...
Read moreI've been to the Woodstock Inn many times.
It was extraordinarily dark to get from my car to the entrance was ridiculously dangerous. See picture of Porsche under car port you can barely see!
I was invited there by a couple who rented a Maserati for the Porsche events that was happening. There were no Bellman. No doorman. Very low lights not only in the parking area ahead of the front lawn of the end but also in the parking lot is self. There's no valet. I'm stunned actually. I don't consider that luxury when you don't have those basics to assist you.
I was one of three different groups of people that said "it's way too dark out here we can't see "when I was coming out of the end and it was way too dark when I was going in the end. I'm stunned that they didn't think of this ahead of time.
I'm stunned that the cars (Porsches) themselves who are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in some cases were not better lit.
I think that's dangerous for everyone involved. I mentioned it to the concierge and they didn't seem too concerned about it but as a single woman and for the benefit of the other guests of the inn who ate in the dining room and the pub - they were all concerned. It's an accident waiting to happen it anyone falls or trips.
If I didn't have my cell phone which had a flashlight mode on it, I would not have been able to get out of my car and into the inn safely.
This is a big concern as the light outside starts getting dark around 6:30pm.
The dinner was okay. The scallops were done perfectly. paired with Cajun sauce was way too spicy!
Interesting salad. I had to ask what those little tiny veggies were that looked like tiny watermelons but the bartender said it was cucumbers.
The offering of dessert was not acceptable. I expected a Tiramisu or a flan or really good high-end desserts. Cake and icecream.
What I found was lacking. I was really quite shocked.
The wine list is pretty good . The atmosphere - I sat at the bar. Extraordinarily crowded.
I would have the Food and Beverage Manager sit at the bar itself and see what I saw.
You can see right into the service area.
My candle wasn't even lit. I lite it myself. I didn't even have salt and pepper shaker and had to ask for them. I was right next to the garnishments for the drinks.
The conversation for guest services was minimal at best. Oh there was plenty of conversation between the waitstaff- the hostesses and the bartender who are griping about the management.
But as far as the guest interaction minimal at best.
I expected to actually have a nice experience. I dropped $45 for a glass of wine and an appetizer portion of food. What's up with the grossly long bill? Waste of paper. All in all-improvement is needed. I'd say wait a while and check out the Prince and the...
