Got a fill-in today, they were able to take me in last minute which I really appreciated. The service itself was done well, with attention to most details. I noticed some minor things after I left but I’m very particular. That being said, there was one thing that i felt should’ve been addressed differently. In addition to the fill, I also got a color change on my toes (that service left a bit to be desired, but it wasn’t terrible overall). Upon entering the salon, I was asked to select my color. I chose a no chip for my fill. Allie asked me what color I wanted for my toes after she’d started applying/curing the color to my fingernails. “Same color, just in regular polish, not no chip.” That’s when she informed me she didn’t have that polish available in regular, but she could do the no chip (which I don’t like on my toes, and for twice the price). “Can we take off this polish so I can pick a color that matches?” “No, its too late to change the color on your fingers because the first layer already set.” Sigh. Yeah, that’s not how I would expect that issue to be addressed, well after it’s too late to pivot. So now I have fingernails that don’t match my toes. Given that the issue could have been avoided and, indeed was caused by my technician, I would’ve expected her to apologize and take off the color, allowing me to pivot and select a color set that suited me. I’m particularly unhappy because I’m due to have my first child in 5 days and will be taking pregnancy pictures and welcoming my new baby with this set of nails that I’m thoroughly unhappy with. Maybe if I wasn’t so hormonal I would feel differently, but I doubt it because I’m dramatic by nature and I place too much emphasis on my nails as it is....
Read moreRecently visited this salon last night. The new tech (highly doubt she is a licensed nail tech) attempted to give me a manicure with a no chip polish finish.
Below I outline several erroneous actions that took place during my manicure service:
1.) Used an electronic buffer to remove previous no chip polish after soaking my nails in acetone. 2.) After filing and buffing my nails she sprays something that was part water part alcohol on both my entire hands. Now my hands are super dry and cracked. 3.)Now, she is attempting clip my cuticles and she cuts me on two of my fingers and my thumb. 4.) Instead of the no chip specific base and top polish. She used regular base/top coat polish. 5.) She added lotion to my hands then use a hot wet towel afterwards. Now my hands and nails are dry again.
Since I don't know specific who this nail tech. The entire salon...
Read moreI had purchased a gift certificate ($45) for my husband who lost it. Nail Tek had put an expiration date on there, which I never understood how a gift certificate paid for can expire. I called today to see if I could use it, which I thought they would honor, but didn’t want a problem when checking out. I was told “No, I can’t use it since it expired”. I heard from a friend that there is actually an IL law that states gift certificates cannot expire. I researched to confirm and called them back to ask again and told them about the law. They still refused!! It’s my $ I paid so not sure why they would even put an expiration date. I have used other expired ones at different businesses and never had an issue. I have never given a business a bad review until now!!! Please do not give them your hard earned $. Go somewhere else. They do not care what the...
