CB's Computer and Electronic Repair - computer, cellphone & tablet repair — Attraction in Wyandotte

Before I start, I just want to say that I HAD to at least give one star to post. I wouldn't recommend going to CB's Computer and Electronic Repair in Southgate. I took my macbook there and asked if I could get the screen replaced. I had already taken the old screen off myself. He took it into the back and I could see him being semi-rough with the computer, and when he brought it back out, the webcam was hanging off the computer, no longer in place. He denied having anything to do with it not working, then he told me that instead of just replacing the screen, to replace the entire top portion of the macbook, for over $200 dollars, when all I needed was a new glass screen. The computer was still displaying images, just the LCD screen was vulnerable because there is no screen protecting it. I took my computer to Southgate computers, and they did not see it being necessary to replace the whole top half, and will be ordering me a new screen. CB Computer and Electronic repair may have good ratings on google, but that is only because he offers a $5 discount to anyone that writes him a 5 star rating. Very smart and helpful guys. When I was having trouble with my laptop, I stopped in & talked with them about it. They had me bring it in, was a 5 second fix & they didn't charge me for it. When the phone company wired my home for internet, the tech didn't install a long enough cord to the modem to reach the desktop & I was having trouble getting the wifi to work on the desktop. The tech ran the wire to my bedroom and put the modem on my dresser, a good 17 feet away from where it needed to be. The phone company told me it would cost me over $100 to come out & rewire my home. I talked to Curtis & he told me how to solve that problem myself by installing an adapter on the desktop for a LOT less $$$. I bought the adapter from CB's & this single mom was a happy camper. I've returned several times since then for help with other computer issues & have had superb service every time. My daughter took her Kindle to them to have the screen replaced & the repair cost was very reasonable. Her Kindle was ready in a couple days. Ben at Benchtech exceeded expectations with the service he provided us recently. The hard drive on one of our laptops failed and Ben was able to immediately take a look at it and give me a quick diagnosis. His analysis of the problem was clear and well explained. It also anticipated the conclusion to his effort to recover data (no luck, but unsurprising given the hardware problem).

This was a four year old Dell Vostro. I took the recovery disks with the OS and drivers, plus the MS Office 2010 disk. Where Benchtech exceeded expectations was that after installing the new hard drive, Benchtech not only reinstalled the base OS and drivers, they also downloaded and installed updates. When I returned the laptop to its owner, I explained that she might need to reenter the product key on Office the first time she used it. To my surprise and delight, Office was not only reinstalled, but registered! Thanks Benchtech. We've added you to our list as a prime resource for future computer repair.
