We were very disappointed the arboretum is located immediately next to highway 82. Wednesday morning there are a lot of trucks moving past quite loudly. Weekends may be less noisy.
The Yakima River borders one side. The stretch immediately accessible from the arboretum isn't particularly scenic, but does grant access to the partially paved linear trail.
We were particularly excited to have found a Japanese garden. It was not as large or well maintained as anticipated. The best word to describe it is "neglected".
There was a significant number of homeless in the arboretum, likely due to the permanent housing behind the UHaul location across highway 12.

We go to the north side of the Arboretum love to eat Raspberries.our chiuahaua loves chasing the squirreleez plus she helps me exercise then when we get home quick shower then I rub my sweetie's feet's then take a long knapp.instead of being home lounging or if your just plain bord. Go to the Arboretum take a long walk, talk, or just catch up on a great conversation with an old friend or new friends.we plain love it...
Read moreI found the sweetest little kitty out by the compost heaps. Poor thing has a very crooked spine but was healthy. Skiddish of people. Even growled at another visitor as he got close to us. I was able to coax the cat out of the bushes . Then she rubbed against my boots while i was petting her/him it was a very sweet sweet kitty.its spine was almost "L" shaped but could walk run jump and survive like that . I hope it finds a nice family to help it out and give it a home or i hope it avoids all humans and provides a suitable rodent remover for that...
