This is something different.. It says "museum," but it's not as one might expect.
Of course the main attraction is that huge, moving globe!! You can see from the near by road, but to get the full effect, one should go inside.
There is a little deli for food and drink whilst you sit and watch the world go 'round..
It's free to go in and look and no waiting. You can spend as little or as much time as you want just having at it.
We stopped by during a Drive From Our Past. My grandmother lived right closer by, but I had moved away decades ago. So, being right there in Yarmouth and driving past it all the time, we stopped in. In fact, it was s great meeting place for all is cousins to meet up at ! We are scattered all over the US and arranged to visit Maine at the same time. Twas a great, nostalgic trip !
PS: right close by is the Muddy Rudder if you're hungry. It's a bit pricey, but...
Read moreThis is an awesome place brought to you by the makers of the G1000. The hours on google say till 3:00. But we showed up at 3:30 and it was open. An employee who works there said its open till 6:00. At the very least its not open on the Weekends or Holidays. But this globe is cool. It is 100% accessible: Elevator to all the floors and push button door opener. It has some interesting facts located on the wall. And the bathrooms are nice for the visitors. I saw a lot of employees coming in and out. I can only assume their is a gym in there also. The parking lot has plenty of space.m, and the area is well maintained. The globe spins at a rate of one revolution every few minutes and you get great views from all three floors. Check out this...
Read moreI love Eartha! We planned this excursion on our way down the coast and I am happy we did. We watched it turn for about 20 minutes from both the ground floor and the third floor. The mechanism is really cool! It's movement mimics Earth's rotation and revolution so you'll get a view of other places as it turns.
To be clear, this is a large globe in the lobby of a workplace. It's not really a museum although there are some plaques. It's only open on weekdays til 3 because it is a real office. So keep that in mind if you visit, but it is really cool (and free) if it fits with...
