Great hike. Did the 6 mile Indian Loop Trail hike. If you have bad knees i would not recommend this hike. There are several peaks to climb up to get an excellent view of the surrounding area including Chaporrosa Peak. Take trekking poles if you have them. They help alot. As far as wildlife, i saw lizards, bees, 1 butterfly, chipmunks, birds, and 1 jackrabbit. The trail through the wetlands area of the hike has some serious overgrowth so i would recommend to the staff to take care of that. Read moreIt's beautiful here. They've got a few picnic tables and nice clean restrooms. The trails are in excellent condition and range from easy to very difficult. However, it was windy and cold when we went which is not unusual for this area. It's also close to Pioneertown which is a nice bonus and it's only a few miles from two major highways. But be careful, the last mile or two are on a dirt road. The road wasn't too bad though. My 2-wheel drive car has low profile tires and sits pretty low and I didn't have any trouble...

Granted, we only went as far as the fork, but it was a fun and decent trek there and back again with easy rolling sections in the trail and turns. It was a bit windy, but not a big issue for us.
