Tashkent Teleminora (also known as the Tashkent TV Tower) is one of the most iconic landmarks in Uzbekistan and the tallest structure in Central Asia. Here's a detailed look at the Tashkent TV Tower:

Key Features of Tashkent TV Tower:

Height:

The tower stands at 375 meters (1,230 feet), making it one of the tallest towers in the world. It is visible from various parts of Tashkent and dominates the skyline.

History and Construction:

Construction of the tower began in 1978 and was completed in 1985. The tower was designed by Soviet engineers and architects, blending functionality with a unique architectural style.

It was originally built to enhance telecommunications, broadcasting, and TV services across Uzbekistan and surrounding regions.

Architecture and Design:

The design of the Tashkent TV Tower is influenced by Islamic architecture, with decorative lattice patterns and stylized motifs. Its slim yet sturdy structure allows it to withstand seismic activity, a crucial factor given Tashkent's earthquake-prone geography.

The base consists of three pillar-like supports, creating an open, modern look.

Observation Deck:

One of the main attractions of the tower is its observation deck, located 97 meters above the ground. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Tashkent and its surroundings, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

The deck has binoculars for enhanced viewing, and on clear days, you can see the distant mountains and much of the city's layout.

Revolving Restaurant:

The Tashkent TV Tower features a revolving restaurant, located at 110 meters, providing a unique dining experience while offering 360-degree views of the city. The restaurant completes a full rotation every hour, allowing guests to enjoy different views as they dine.

Functionality:

In addition to being a tourist attraction, the tower plays a crucial role in broadcasting television and radio signals across the region. It is equipped with the latest telecommunications technology and continues to be a hub for TV and radio transmission.

Tourism:

The TV Tower is a popular destination for both tourists and locals. It represents technological progress and serves as a symbol of modernity in Uzbekistan. The tower is part of various guided tours, and there are informational displays about its construction and the history of Tashkent.

Access:

The tower is located in the northern part of Tashkent and is easily accessible by car or public transportation. Visitors need to pass through security checks before ascending the tower, and tickets are required for access to the observation deck and restaurant.

Overall, Tashkent Teleminora is a unique blend of technological achievement and architectural beauty, and it provides an incredible view of the vibrant city...

During 30+ years of my travels I climbed almost every tower or famous high rise worldwide - certainly more than 50. As far I remember there's no worse than Tashkent's, and for several reasons I'll explain. The only reason I don't give 1 star is a nice exterior, as from outside the tower is really beautiful. When entering you wait 3 lines. First line is the most stupid one, probably Soviet legacy - at the front desk you wait to get a paper with the number of people in your party written. With that paper you go to the second line by the counter where you buy your tickets (around 5$ pp). After that you move to the third line for the elevators which is chaotic - most locals jump in front of you, push you,...etc Elevators are tiny and slow - only two of them with, I think, 10 people capacity each, After almost an hour waste of time you reached the viewing platform (this is the lower one, the upper you cannot climb as it's for telecommunication purposes), No outside area viewing - only through windows which are awfully dirty and stained, Millions of flies fly around you, never seen such, Finally the views you initially came for are underwhelming - Tashkent panorama is nothing to write home about. Best you can see are many parks and greenery city is famous for and the snow capped mountains in the distance at the border...

Honestly we LOVED this place! Not just cause of the view - it’s breathtaking + discovering there’s mountains nearby was a huge surprise!!! I’m also so surprised to see people saying prices are high - in any restaurant in the city we went to the average bill was pretty much the same! The food was great, we ordered a veggie plate and the veggies were delicious, they made vegan versions of lentil and mushroom soups for us, pasta was great too. I totally enjoyed my ginger-lemon tea (and I’m veeery picky about my tea!) and my husband had to ask for another coffee (which he rarely does!). It was a bit weird that not all of the waiters spoke Russian (which is understandable since we’re not in Russia but I believe it’d be really helpful for them to have more Russian and (ideally) English-speaking waiters) but our guy did speak Russian and did a great job serving us and he took some good pics of us too!

We visited the Tashkent TV Tower on a Monday, but it only opens from 2 PM to 8 PM on Mondays—there are no morning timings. We reached around 11 AM, so we went to Chorsu Bazaar to spend some time and came back later. The tower offers beautiful views of the city. You can see the water park, metro stations, and many other places from the top. The place felt safe, and the height was perfect to enjoy the scenery. The ticket price was around 40,000 SOM (about $4). If you buy anything on top, it’s slightly more expensive than the ground floor, but not too costly. The lifts were working fine, but we couldn’t visit the upper deck where the restaurant is because it was closed, so we had to have lunch outside instead. Overall, it was a nice experience and worth visiting for the views.
