As someone who loves history, this place is a must go. The ticket price is a little on the expensive side compared to other local museum, but they have a spacious area to sightsee. The employees are all friendly and welcoming, and were very insightful with any question you may have. They have the only surviving theatre area made from wood as well, which in my opinion, is quite interesting. The architecture and symbolism are great and really unique. It can be a little bit warm during the summer but you will spend most of the sightseeing inside or at least under a roof, so no worries. Parking within the area can be a little expensive since it’s a tourist area too, so keep in mind.

A cultural experience that's worth visiting. I've seen quite a few family houses and this one has it all! And as a bonus, it's the only one (afaik) with a giant theater stage. I highly recommend to try to get the night tour, because once the sun sets, this place turns into a magical ancient experience. I got lucky as the tour was organized by our language learning center, but they told us they do night tours about once a month. Not sure if it's possible for everyone, but we also made our own fans and could try out old traditional clothes. 5/5, would go again!

Great memory visiting here, save one star for next visit. Located in Wufeng District of Taichung City, Taiwan, Lin Family Mansion and Garden, also known as the Palace of Green Walls, is a must-visit attraction for those interested in traditional Chinese architecture and garden design. Built by the Lin Family in the late 19th century, the mansion and garden complex has been beautifully preserved and restored for visitors to enjoy. The Lin Family Mansion and Garden features traditional Chinese architecture with stunning courtyards, pavilions, and gardens that reflect the perfect harmony between humans and nature. The intricate carvings and decorations in the mansion and garden are also impressive and provide a glimpse into the opulence of the Lin Family. The garden itself is a masterpiece, with a serene pond, winding paths, and a variety of plants and flowers. It's a peaceful place to stroll around and take in the beauty of nature. Visitors can also enjoy tea at the tea house within the garden, a traditional way to experience Chinese culture. Overall, the Lin Family Mansion and Garden is a fascinating attraction that offers a glimpse into traditional Chinese life and culture. It's a perfect place to spend a relaxing day and learn about the history and architecture of Taiwan.

One star taken off, not handicap friendly. Do not recommend if you have wheelchairs. This is a great place to go to get a little of Taiwanese wealthy family history few hundred years ago. How it is mix of mainland China traditional in Taiwan society. Many handcrafted wood carving. It is not big but I think the tour guys is great, story telling with interaction with the tourist answer any question anyone might have. The ear phone guide is a great idea too, allow you to take pictures without missing any of the tour details.

It was worth for the trip, especially not too hard to go here from the Fengchia Night Market. I was really impressive with the structures, obviously i was deeply excited when setting my foot here. The lady selling tickets at the front gate can speak clear English and supper friendly with me. I love every single moments there, i did have a amazing experiment. Some men at the main hall who supported me, was super super kind. The structures and the atmosphere is wonderful. I will give 10 out of 10.

Was very surprised to see such an interesting and historically significant place like this, especially since I've never really heard of it. Tour guide told us this is the largest mansion complex in all of Taiwan, and it even includes original painted corridors from the Qing Dynasty, something you're hard-pressed to find in mainland China, where most original sites were destroyed during the cultural revolution. Definitely recommend this site!
