I only rated this hotel 3 starts (instead of 5) based on two bad customer service experiences that I will explain at the end of this post.
The hotel is located in a good, safe, and accessible neighborhood. Nearby is the ministry of energy, European Union, some United Nations organizations, restaurants, a medical clinic, and more.
The hotel is a small property of 5 stories with approximately 32 rooms, it has a few street parking spaces in front, a restaurant, small reception, and a conference room. The gym was closed for the moment. The hotel areas are clean. The hotel is equipped with security cameras system. The room I stayed was basic with TV, AC, small refrigerator, 2 chairs, 2 small tables, small safe, closet, and a bathroom with shower. The room key is an electronic card key.
The room was kept clean and towels were exchanged daily. There is a complementary bottle of water daily per person.
The restaurant have very good food. The lady that is at the restaurant in the mornings, she is fantastic. She is all about customer service. Definitely I had a great experience with her at the restaurant.
However, for an unknown reason, all that good customer services and "can do" attitude that you get from the morning to early afternoon disappears in the evening. Is like the hotel transforms into a totally different hotel.
1st Bad Service Experience: Upon my arrival directly from the airport to the hotel I went to the restaurant to have dinner. When I went to settle the bill, I offered to pay with credit cards, cash in US dollars, or charge it to the room. None of my 3 choices were an option that they accepted. They told that the restaurant only accepts cash in Algerian dinars. So, we went back and forward for some time and they finally agreed to charge it to my room. It was really a bad experience.
2nd Bad Service Experience: Two days later after the first bad experience, during lunch time I called the reception asking how to order room service. The gentleman at the reception kindly transferred me to the restaurant. The restaurant took my food order, asked me if I was going to charge it to the room, and delivered the good food. Excellent service. However, I wanted to do the same for dinner. So, I called the reception 3 times and a lady answered the phone. The first 2 times she said and insisted that there was no room service available in the hotel. That she could not transfer my call to the restaurant because she was alone at the reception. That totally confused me. That I had to come down to the restaurant. I got a bit disappointed, as I told her, I just ordered room service 6 hours ago. But she kept insisting that she was alone and could not transfer my call to the restaurant. The third time, she finally attempted to transfer my call to the restaurant, but unfortunately the call transfer was unsuccessful. I decided to walk down the restaurant. I spoke to a young man (skinny waiter) who told that the restaurant didn't provide room service. I could not believe it. I told him about my previous room service 6 hours earlier. Then he said he needed to talk to his colleague. A colleague showed up and finally agreed to support my request.
Both were terrible bad experiences. Then next morning customer services was back to normal until early afternoon.
It's possible that the staff that works in the morning is the "A-Team" and the ones who work in the evening are the "C-Team" but either way, is unacceptable customer services.
It's too bad because the hotel really have its potential. Other than those 2 bad experience, the hotel is worth to stay and I would have giving it 5...
Read moreNew and modern, clean. Room doors are card access secured. Restaurant downstairs is great! Caught me by surprise for all 3 meals (I actually got hard-boiled eggs for breakfast as opposed to only the buffet of breads). Coffee is Nescaffe, made by a decent push-button machine. Although the menu doesn't change too often. Quiet room (West facade). Many other restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Minimal...
