I chose this hotel due to its excellent TA reviews.||Note that Algeria is an Arabic and French speaking country. English is not widely spoken especially outside of the main cities. Cash is king - especially Algerian Dinars. I took euros and had no problem exchanging them for dinars, but not easy to use otherwise.||Location - depending on traffic (and it can be extremely heavy) the hotel is approximately 30 minutes drive from the airport, and 15 minutes from the old town/port. There is a tram terminal / metro station approx 500m downhill from the hotel. The tram heads out past the great mosque into the coastal suburbs, but the metro heads into the city and old town. |There are a few shops locally for snacks, drinks, fruits etc close by.||Hotel - on the ground floor is the reception area, business area and meeting rooms. On the lower floors there are function rooms and a car park. On the 7th floor is the restaurant with superb views over Algiers Bay. In between are the floors with large bedrooms - some with the same bay view.||Reception - the reception staff were wonderful, helpful and professional. ||Restaurant - I was on bed and breakfast basis, but chose to have the buffet dinner each night as well. The food and choice were excellent. I especially enjoyed the Algerian buffet night, and the fact wonderful local dates were available at each meal. The staff were brilliant. As I was the only ‘English’ guest in the hotel, I soon became known as Mr 206 (my room number). As I am on a walking stick, the staff were brilliant in helping me get drinks, food etc. ||Bedroom - located on the second floor (there are two lifts) my double room was large and well appointed - especially with kettle and a quality coffee maker. Ask the restaurant for Lipton tea bags if you prefer black tea. There is a large screen flat screen tv, but I did not find any English speaking channels (but that didn’t matter as I was out all day each day).|The bed was very comfortable.||My stay was for three nights. Honestly I wish I had stayed longer. Algiers is an exciting city, and The Lamaraz arts hotel is an excellent choice for...
Read moreI've been staying for almost a week now. It was uncomfortable and bad experience. The only thing that I would describe as being "okay" for the price is the food, other than that. It's bad, the internet is very bad in the rooms .. I changed two rooms and still always connecting and disconnecting. The room cleanness is as a furniture is okay BUT the changeables are not. All The towels got light brown stains which is completely frustrating and gross .. The pillows on the bed smelled like old house basement. I asked them to changed everything and the next day, the new towels had also stains .. They look like as if you spilled something on them and washed them in the washing machine but they didn't get off. Yet still completely unacceptable to have something like this in a 4 star hotel. One of the rooms showers didn't have a holder or anything to put the gel/shampoo on while showering and the bathroom window was by the road side on the first floor and it's broken and doesn't close completely to the end so you have all the noise of the road leaking inside the room, The air conditioner always having an error and I they come two times to fix it and still the same. Overall a bad experience despite it's business booked for a long stay so it sort of has a priority. The rooms maybe okay for one night or max 2 nights stay but not for longer. The stuff was very understanding and tried to help as much as they can to be honest but at some point I understand its no longer in the...
Read moreAs an American woman who was traveling to Algeria for the first time, Lamaraz Arts Hotel was more than the perfect luxury experience. Not only did I feel safe, but the team was spectacular with every step of the experience. From “Hello” with the greeter and bellman, to the receptionist, to the fantastic team at the lovely restaurant on the 7th floor, to the wonderful lady at the spa and the gentleman in the parking lot; everything was superb.
My fiancé and I were absolutely blown away. We frequent many 4 and 5 star hotels around the world; and Lamaraz Hotels certainly left a lasting impression.
Of note, the restaurant had breath-taking panoramic views of Algiers. The food was exquisite, with the perfect combination of Algerian cuisine and some familiar-to-American flare. The service team members were always with warmth, smiles, and tended to us with finesse. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean, modern and had all the amenities we needed.
Lastly, the adorable lady at the spa was so kind, had a methodical and relaxing technique, and was an expert at my massage. I love it when people are good at their craft.
Thank you to the seamless team at Lamaraz Arts Hotel. We will certainly be...
