In summary, very mixed feelings about this place, probably a decent option for work related stays but better to be avoided for any form of special occasion or vacation.

We stayed at the hotel for one night as an IHG Platinum member with the specific intention to celebrate new year as a couple. We booked the stay including the dinner buffet.

The good: the building is really nice and modern. The rooms are large. The bathtub was one of the longest I have seen in any hotel. We had a nice view from the room. The swimming pool is nice and was quite warm. Importantly, the whole complex is very safe The breakfast buffet was extensive I did feel like the staff tried to help with the many issues we faced, but was probably just disorganized or untrained. So...

The Bad: We booked via the app but by accident only entered one person. When we tried to add a second person at the frontdesk the staff was overwhelmed and we needed to talk to the IHG person and it took them in total 30 minutes to figure this out. Also after we were in the room they told us they forgot to ask for the signature and would need to come to the room to get it. I really wonder if the front desk staff is properly trained. The biggest issue we encountered was when we tried to go to the buffet dinner we had booked with our reservation in the evening and we were told all restaurants are closed because it's NYE and the only way to get food is to either get some bites in the very basic looking hotel bar or have room service deliver a la card. So we choose a la card. After 90(!) minutes the food arrived but they were out of some items, worse yet, a number of items were incorrect which is a big deal as we have food restrictions. We called them and told them what's wrong / not edible, they said they would deliver it, we waited for three hours and they never did. In summary probably the worst NYE experience in any hotel we have had. small nuisance, no pillows on the pool bed, had to lie on the wood, and no towels, we chased the staff and it took them a good 20 minutes to find towels. even though the complex is safe, the hotel is on top of the hill so you can't easily walk places. What makes matters worse is that the hotel charges an astounding amount for the hotel taxi (i.e. 150 USD (!) for a 10 minute airport dropoff that's just 5-6km away, that is exactly 50x what a normal taxi on ride hailing apps charges, so luckily the staff helped calling a regular taxi via their app, note international ride hailing apps don't work in Luanda at this time so you need a local number and you need to pay cash... Which brings us to the next problem, there is no ATM in or around the hotel, nor is there a way to exchange money, that seems like a very rudimentary service lacking here. So if you don't bring cash, be prepared to pay for the most expensive taxi rides of your life the lobby is stunning but the cool glass elevator was not functioning to top it off, both of us got food poisoning after the stay. Since the only items we shared were during breakfast it was probably...

InterContinental Luanda Miramar: A Luxurious Stay in Luanda

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the InterContinental Luanda Miramar, and I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel's luxurious accommodations and exceptional service.

The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and modern amenities. The bathrooms are also large and luxurious, with plenty of space to relax and unwind. The hotel's staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure that my stay was enjoyable.

The hotel's dining options are also excellent. The breakfast buffet is extensive and offers a wide variety of delicious dishes. The hotel also has several restaurants and bars, serving a range of international cuisine.

The location of the hotel is also ideal, situated in the heart of Luanda's business district. It is within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, and attractions.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay at the InterContinental Luanda Miramar, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable hotel in Luanda.

Here are some specific things I loved about the hotel:

The spacious and well-appointed rooms The luxurious bathrooms The friendly and attentive staff The delicious food The convenient location I would definitely stay at the InterContinental Luanda Miramar again on my next trip to Luanda.

Here are some tips for travelers:

Be sure to book your room in advance, as the hotel can get busy, especially during peak season. If you are planning to dine at one of the hotel's restaurants, be sure to make a reservation in advance. The hotel is located in a busy area, so it can be noisy at times. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to request a room on a higher floor or at the back of the hotel. I hope this...

I am very dissapointed about my stay. The hotel is brand new, architecture is outstanding, location is perfect, rooms have great view and my one was clean. But service is awful!!! I booked an airport shuttle in advance and got a false confirmation, that I corrected. But still, there was no shuttle waiting for me. Luckily another guest invited me to his shuttle, but the driver firstly refused to take the both of us. Shuttle was Uber-quality, not according to the hotel standard, but well, I was happy finally I was taken to the hotel after a discussion of 20 minutes. During my stay staff gave me wrong directions when I asked for the conference rooms but the worst thing was about my bill. I asked to pay in the middle of my stay. They calculated the final bill including airport transfer and booked the money from my credit card. They informed me, they could give me the printout only when I leave. On the last day I asked for the printout and was told that I was charged too much money from my card. But they also could't refund me the overpayed amount, as I was the first guest and they didn't have enough money on the card-reader!?!? I ended up in a discussion that took me 40 minutes to finally have the overpaid amount on my bill as trasfer-costs. I finally took my wrong bill angrily, in order not to miss my flight , and left. I asked about correction lateron by e-mail, but didn't receive an answer. Also if I asked a couple of times.

Sorry, this is not okay for a hotel that want's to be...

In a nutshell: charging top prices for average service and poor maintenance The pros : beautiful building with a nice location on the side of the hill, with a fairly dominant position over Luanda , even if there are more and towers being built and partially obstructing the view on the bay of Luanda. Rooms are generally spacious and well appointed, except maybe for the TV relatively small. Security seems to be a priority of the hotel with plenty of security guards in the lobby and also one in each elevator (seems a bit excessive considering a key card is required to access the accommodation floors) The cons : Despite being recently inaugurated, hotel seems to already suffer from serious maintenance issues, with only 3 elevators out of 6 being operational during my stay. Keeping the minibar empty when you charge 400 usd a night is hard to understand, so is the charge of USD200 per day to access the club lounge. Requests for laundry services were either ignored or misunderstood, despite once again being charged at top dollar prices. Main restaurant was quite disappointing (see separate review).

Exceptional customer service: I arrived a couple of hours earlier than planned and was graciously accommodated by a very friendly and courteous front desk staff making check-in smooth, seamless and pleasant. My room was spotlessly clean, spacious and well-Maintained. The bed was very comfortable and definitely surpassed my expectations Located on a hill, the hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of the business district, providing easy access to attractions and a great view of the city. Room service was prompt with a diversed menu. The hotel boasts of excellent facilities, multilevel car park, swimming pool, top-notch gym (featured modern equipment and was well-maintained). Overall, great value for Money, quality of service and amenities, truly a 5 star hotel !
