This is a small bed and breakfast hotel close to major roads within the city so good location. The locality is fantastic for walking around to market, coast, restaurants without requiring taxi. The rooms are very clean and well designed. You have fridge, comfortable beds, tv, shower that has hot water and desk and chair. The storage for clothes is plenty in both room and bathroom. Also the lights are enough and natural light is also great from windows. I would highly recommend getting rid of the shutter in bathroom- this darkens entire room and I had to literally rip it off myself to get some natural light! The staff are friendly but remember they are not there 24/7, however reachable by phone. They helped me with laundry, taxi, checkin/out, etc. without issues. For taxi do not expect to walk out and find since its small hotel and quiet location. You will need to do with app or phone. I also requested owner to help since I didnt have local phone. I am surprised the hotel is not more famous given its good location and quiet and clean nature. I think price is fair given it is Angola! and also given it is very safe and good location and staff. Laura, the head staff is absolutely wonderful, the most helpful and she will accommodate with anything you need. The owner, Hugo, also very helpful to arrange transport, recommend any places to visit, eat, etc. covid tests, etc. The premise has no restaurant per say- so beware- you have to order food in advance 24 hours - I never tried as I prefer to just pick food or order when I am hungry. I think this can be improved but hard due to lack of a dedicated chef as I believe Laura also handles the cooking in addition to rest of her duties. She is good cook as I understand.
Recommendations and challenges: I saw some complained in review about reception- this is indeed true, you will not find someone to help you constantly on a desk or office however this is because it is not a big hotel and is a small private bed breakfast- so it should not be expected. In fact the owner is helpful to give his contact and contact of staff to help at anytime if no one can be found. What could potentially be improved is the consistency in service, for example one day you will find owner and all staff around while on another day you may never see the owner to accommodate your needs. Another area of improvement is if laundry can be done faster, it took extremely long 4 days at times which is too long for hotel facility- understanding maybe they send it out. Also, agree with other reviewers on the breakfast, it is indeed same every day and sometimes no fruits which is bit frustrating for me personally- this can be improved with something special on weekends at least lets say. Similarly, sometimes I got no eggs unless I asked myself. The rooms are clean and well designed but there is desperate need for mosquito repellant, last three nights I struggled. Some solution around food situation would be good- either not a 24 hour booking or a dedicated chef to help Laura. Otherwise guests on own to find food if working late or arriving...
