Hotel Guayrá Gualeguaychú — Hotel in Gualeguaychu

My husband I, plus our daughter, son-in-law and 7-month old grand-child, spent 4 nights in two superior rooms at the Guayrá Hotel in August. I would not hesitate to say it is the best choice by far in Gualeguaychú. It offers different kinds of lodgings, to suit varying budgets: standard rooms, superior rooms, two-bedroom apartments, log cabins for four. That is why the hotel can be classed as a 2 and 3 star-hotel. We paid 500 Argentine pesos per week day per room + breakfast and 650 Argentine pesos per room on Saturday and Sunday. There is nothing that can rival those prices, considering what was included: friendly and efficient staff, superior breakfast buffet choices, park with deck chairs, indoor heated pool + hot tub + sauna, huge outdoor swimming pool, bicycles, rowing boats, air conditioning, parking on the premises.||The location is superb: on the banks of the river opposite the Unzué park, close to the riverfront restaurants and a service station running a convenience store. Behind the lodging constructions, however, there is a sports club with a camping site. No noise in winter, but I wonder what it is like during the summer holidays.||The premises are not very large, and there are several buildings that belong to different construction stages and styles. The main building houses some rooms/apartments and the restaurant. There is no lobby and no lounge. The restaurant cashier doubles as receptionist. And there is no comfortable indoors space for rainy days except your room/apartment/log cabin. ||The superior rooms (in a building with ground-floor and first floor, no elevator) offer wooden floors, good bedding and linen plus a mini-fridge. Three minor drawbacks: first, the corridor that connects the rooms has no heating and is bitterly cold in winter. Second, the bathrooms have windows that open up to the corridor, venting voices, noises and smells into it. Third, the TV set in the room is attached to a metal frame on the wall, just below the ceiling. Not at all convenient for those with impaired eyesight. Besides, there is no telephone service in the rooms at present so that the rooms have no communication either with reception or with the outside world. Telephone service and plasma screens will be installed in the future, I was told. A safe for valuables would be a welcome addition. The size of the rooms is adequate (a crib was fitted for our grand-child and there was space enough for the stroller in the room. Walls and doors could do with a coat of paint.||I would like to highlight the efficient and friendly reception / restaurant service offered by a staff of enthusiastic young ladies (the afternoon lady speaks English). The breakfast spread was far better than that of most hotels in Argentina, offering scrambled eggs, mini-hot-dog sausages and pancakes, as well as ham, cheese, fruit, fruit salad, yoghurt and assorted breads and sweets. In fact, the food was consistently good. We ate there three times and were very satisfied with the prices and the choices, from cold and hot sandwiches (all you get if you want room-service, which, due to the absence of a telephone, you must go and order yourself to reception/restaurant desk) to more sophisticated dishes.||The owners are covering as much of the grounds as they can with new buildings. More people will certainly mean overcrowded facilities. Our experience, however, was splendid: the hot tub and heated pool were a welcome activity on two cold winter days with few guests. There were also signs of poor maintenance that the management should take note of: tiles coming off the floor and sides of the pool, mould on the ceiling (as well as on the bathroom ceilings in the superior rooms), wood surfaces that lack varnishing. We did not try the sauna or steam bath (in two small cabins the size of a telephone booth). Children are not allowed in the indoor heated pool after five o’clock. The spa closes at nine, so you can enjoy the views of the river as the sun goes down, and the sight of the park’s lights turning on across the river, from inside the hot tub, to the sound of soft, relaxing music. I was moving to Uruguay and had to stay an extra day in Argentina along the border. After crossing the bridge into Gualaguaychu, I immediately noticed this beautiful hotel near a river with a wonderful backdrop and decided to stay there.||||The rooms were really cute, the spa was great, the views of the water were wonderful and the staff were super friendly. We had some things to take care of in town and the staff were not only super friendly, but we met the owner as well. it is a family fun hotel and they definitely take pride and care for the hotel. ||||Honestly, every experience of the hotel from staff to the super cute rooms to the food and location were fantastic. ||||If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay in a quiet town, or when the carnival hits Argentina, there is no better place to stay then here.||||Would definitely recommend this place in every...

I stayed here for three nights mid-week on business, very nice place! What I enjoyed the very most was something as simple as sitting on the patio having a few drinks late at night, overlooking the lit up swimming pool and the river, it was so relaxing and enjoyable.|They do have cabins but I had a regular room in the building. Very spacious, clean, wifi worked OK, no complaints at all. I did notice they have the hotel name embroidered on the towels, which is a nice touch, makes you feel they are serious about their business. Staff was always VERY helpful. |I had dinner once in the restaurant, the food was great and the Caprese salad was to die for, the best I have ever had.
