It was difficult for me to rate the hotel but I have to be honest and explain to other travellers why I was so disappointed compared to the excellent reviews I read. ||I booked the private room for two persons. When we arrived we noticed the picture on the website were not the same as the room. The room was extremely small ( the smallest private i have got in 6months of travelling around the world) it was impossible to put out two bags somewhere and unpack. So we just left the things in the bag. ||To add insult to injury the room is next to the shared living room of the hostel where everyone just chills and there is the reception. When You are in your bed your head is litteraly on the opposite side of the wall where there is a tv playing music everyday all day until 11pm or 12pm. When I told the nice lady who showed us the room that we could litteraly hear the music in the room. She said it was a soundproof wall.(still not sure to this day if it was sarcasm or a joke). ||One night I had to ask at midnight the two guest who were in the sofa to turn off the t.v. so I could try to sleep. ||The room has a window that gives on the street and one of the window cannot be locked from the inside. ||On the positive side the bed was ok. |The shower was not very hot but worked well. ||The breakfast was simple but good and plenty. ||What really shocked me is how they are making money out of their customers. ||They said you can pay by visa. But when I wanted to pay my two nights (in pesos on booking) they told me you can only pay by card in dollars (first time in my life that I hear you can.not pay in the currency of the country you are in). Why not you would say?? ||This is where the trick happens they use their own rate ( when I was there the official rate was 39.3 and they use 32) ||This makes an increase of more than 20% of the price of the room !!! ||I obviously declined this rate and found a way to get cash ! ||I heard two girls complaining after noticing they had paid more in their banking app. ||Too late. ||To be honest we took the cheapest wine tour which was very nice but I think it is not very different from the expensive one (after discussing with other guest who took the expensive one).||Also the staff was very friendly and helpful. Particularly Jessica. ||I saw some people criticizing the location, for us it was convenient as it is not far from the Center. (15 min walking ) ||So I think the dorm should be fine, just I would not recommend the private room and I would make sure I have cash to avoid a bad...
Read moreA few days before we set out for Mendoza from Buenos Aires, we met another traveller in a hostel who was going in the opposite direction. He recommended this hostel to us for when we arrived in Mendoza, describing it as a bit quieter than others but really friendly and they have good prices on the local activities. We forgot to book it in advance, but fortunately when we arrived in Mendoza from the Cordoba night bus and walked up to this hostel to ask if they had rooms, we were greeted on the front desk by the incredibly friendly owner who happily found some space for us.||||It would be some time before the room would be ready, as they were still cleaning, we were told, but in the meantime we were welcome to use the hostel's (somewhat limited) facilities. There's a TV with a huge selection of films, but looking through the catelogue they did mostly seem to be Hollywood blockbuster action movies. Either way, it was only around an hour until the room was ready anyway, and we used that time on the computer planning the next stages of our trip.||||Unfortunately, shortly after our check in the WiFi cut out, and was fairly intermittent throughout the rest of our stay too with it only coming back very briefly in the evening. This could have been a big problem as I, like a lot of people, like to work from hostels when travelling. However, in the meantime, the staff were happy also to talk us through different activity and tour options available; we knew we wanted to do a wine tour but not exactly where we wanted to go or how long for. They helped us easily onto a half day tour for about €15 each that was well worth the money. However, be warned: when they say the pickup time is at 14:00, it will probably be sometime after 15:00.||||It is a shame we did not stay longer, as they had other activities for VERY good prices compared to in Europe or North America (Skydiving for around €50 or so a head?!) and it would have been great to check some of these out more. But regardless, the beds were comfy and staff were friendly, and the bathroom was a lot better than most in South America. It's a little quiet here, and some social atmosphere (games? bar crawl?) would be great, but either way, we are very happy to have...
Read moreStayed here for 5 nights in the 6 bed dorm and found the stay mostly enjoyable. All staff members were really nice and helpful, kitchen facilities were excellent, breakfast was basic but appreciated. WiFi was good throughout, the dorms were spacious and the lockers in the room were absolutely massive which was great (they also gave a free lock which was greatly appreciated). This isn't a party hostel, but is still very social. Most people were pretty happy to sit up with a glass of wine and talk to eachother without being too noisy. The location is okay, about a 15 minute walk from the main area which isn't too bad. Nearest supermarket is a 10 minute walk. ||Not much negative here. The hostel was pretty cold during the nights due to the lack of heating in the rooms, but the beds have lots of blankets. Our dorm also looked out onto the main road, and with the windows being so thin, sometimes cars/loud motorbikes were enough to wake me up but I guess that's to be expected being on a road with bus routes. I don't think the private rooms face out to this road, but I'm not 100% sure. Also do your research regarding tours in Mendoza. We didn't get time to look into doing tours ourselves and opted for two tours offered by the hostel. We met people later on in our stay that done pretty much our exact tours for a fraction of the price just by looking into it themselves. This isn't a big negative towards the hostel, I believe their tour prices were similar to other offerings, but is something to bear in mind while in Mendoza. ||Overall a good stay! Would gladly stay again, but would maybe try get a bed away from the...
