We had an overall pleasant experience at this hotel. And the hotel is charming in an old school kind of way, but definitely needs some renovations It is on the outskirts of town on a bluff overlooking the Beagle Channel out towards Chile beyond, a truly beautiful view. Our room, on the even side (left) of the first floor enjoys some of this view. And there is a bench and a few Adirondack chairs where people can have coffee, or just sit to enjoy the view. As a general comment, I would say the hotel is a little bit long in the tooth as they say. It could definitely use some investment in refreshing the rooms and some upgrades. The walls are quite thin and you can hear conversations coming from the next room or noise from the TV if it’s on.
The Wi-Fi net work is poorly installed and poorly maintained. There are three or four separate networks available inside the hotel, and none of them seem to function properly almost any of the time. There is a relatively small TV in the room, and the only English channel available is BBC news, although the remote controls indicate that you can access, Netflix, or YouTube, the TVs are not Wi-Fi enabled, so you cannot use these functions.
There is a relatively simple breakfast available with a small assortment of breads and pastries, two cereals, and a tray of ham and cheese, and some scrambled eggs. The hotel staff at the front and in the restaurant were lovely and helpful in every interaction. One suggestion, it seems that a lot of customers arrive with each incoming flight either from Buenos Aires or El Calafate and the front desk is not prepared to handle this large influx. It would be much more pleasant for check-in if there were two people staffing the desk when the flights arrive. there was a lot of confusion, there is not really an organized line, and the poor woman who was working by herself, was doing her best to keep things moving.
There is a shuttle available to bring you in to town two or three times per day, but I would highly recommend renting a car to give you the freedom to visit the national park, restaurants, and other points of interest in the area. There is nothing around the hotel, and so if you don’t have a car, you will be stuck there eating at the hotel restaurant, using taxis, or waiting for...
Read moreLos Ñires in Ushuaia offers a blend of advantages and significant drawbacks that could impact your stay. On the positive side, the hotel boasts stunning views from its central yard, a highlight for guests seeking a scenic experience. The beds are comfortable, ensuring quality rest, and the inclusion of power banks for international travelers is a thoughtful feature. Additionally, the hotel provides reliable transportation into the city center at scheduled times, making it convenient for exploring the area.
Unfortunately, the negatives overshadow the positives. The hotel enforces a strict no food or drink policy with a hefty $100 fine for infractions, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. This policy seems designed to drive guests to the on-site restaurant, which has a limited menu and pales in comparison to the city center’s dining options. On our first night, after a 10-hour flight, we were forced to eat rain-soaked pizzas outside due to this rigid rule, with staff offering no understanding of the situation. The justification of chemical safety felt insincere and more like a ploy for restaurant sales.
Adding to the discomfort, the walls are paper-thin, and it’s easy to hear your neighbors throughout the night, making restful sleep a challenge. The staff were not particularly warm or proactive, often glued to their computers and leaving guests to initiate every interaction. Breakfast was also a disappointment, with frequent shortages that were not seen elsewhere in the city. Fortunately, Tante Sara, a nearby restaurant, offered a reliable alternative for meals.
While the hotel does offer dependable WiFi and scenic views, the combination of restrictive policies, lackluster dining, unwelcoming service, and noise disturbances makes Los Ñires less suitable for travelers seeking comfort and flexibility, particularly for those on tight schedules like...

From the moment we stepped into Los Nires Ushuaia we felt an incredible sense of warmth and comfort. The music playing at the reception immediately created a welcoming- homey atmosphere making us feel at ease after a long journey.
The reception team is truly outstanding! They assisted us with booking tours, checked us in much earlier since it was my birthday and we had traveled all night from Iguazu. A special thanks to Felipe and Florencia(Flower) who went above and beyond, providing us with all the necessary information in English - an absolute lifesaver considering the language barrier we faced in Argentina. We also had an incident where we lost a bag during a walk and Felipe contacted us before we even realized it was missing, ensuring it was safely returned. Incredible service!
The rooms are extremely cozy and the hotel’s interior and exterior design beautifully blend with nature. The location is simply perfect. I doubt there is a better hotel for this price not just in Ushuaia but in all of Argentina! Seriously this was our best stay in Argentina over two weeks.
The hotel truly feels like an escape from the outdoor fireplace to the beachfront terrace and the Beagle Channel trail which is perfect for morning and evening walks.
The breakfast was fantastic and the restaurant exceeded all our expectations. The menu offers high-quality food with great service, and honestly, we regretted dining in the city on the first day .. the food at the hotel was far better than anything we tried in downtown Ushuaia!
A huge thank you to the Los Nires Ushuaia team for making our stay so memorable. We will absolutely return and recommend this hotel to anyone...
