Rocky Resort Motor Inn — Hotel in Allenstown

We booked this motel for an overnight stay in Rockhampton. There was an event on and accommodation was full. The reviews on booking.com were pretty good, however the price was hiked up to $399 from the normal price of around $159 for a spa room (the only room left). We could have worn the price increase with the lack of available accommodation and also being a Friday night, but the room was not only very shabby, with marks on the walls and falling apart furniture, and had no tea or coffee making facilities apart from a kettle, the room was unclean. The floors were dirty, there were cobwebs and insects in the corners, dust on the sideboard and bead head, broken light, and lights full of insects, and worst of all hair and dirt in the bath and shower. I did contact the motel via email to complain before posting a review in case there was some sort of mishap, but disappointingly never heard back. For $399 a night you would expect the room to be at least clean. Would never recommend or stay...

I searched rocky motels for buffet breakfasts. There was only 3. I rang one and they said they were no longer doing it due to corona. Then i rang this one and was told its all still available. Happily booked over the phone on her insistence. Then when we got here we found out its an additional $40 per night for only a couple different things taken to room. Not buffet at all. When we went to clarify this at the desk was told abruptly that our conversation would not have happened despite the only reason we rang was to enquire about the breaky. Then told her prices could not include breaky. We asked for a refund and were refused due to non 24 hour notice. Ended up staying 1 block away at zed motel who does do buffet breakfast for about $40 cheaper a night then what we were paying at...

Absolutely not a 4-star motel. Our room upstairs was very dated and in dire need of complete makeover. Most bizarre was the power point and antenna in the ceiling above the tiny wall TV in the bedroom. The mattress was very hard - a pillow top would make it more bearable. The light switch in the bathroom is connected to the exhaust fan and during the night it is very loud when using the toilet. The aircon needed the fan on full blast to cool the room down. A few light switches not working. The front room had a lounge chair looking at a blank wall. Very strange area?? Restaurant only open to guests with a very limited meal selection, so opted to dine out in Rocky, but nothing close by. Would never stay again. Bonus though - did have...
