Bella Vista Bellingen — Hotel in Bellingen

We stayed in Garden Suite which was comfortable and well appointed for the needs of 2 people. Light continental breakfast was provided and appreciated. Location is quiet with a lovely pool area. Patio is a lovely place to sit and have breakfast looking out over pool to the mountains. Beds are comfortable. Unit had a damp musty smell which was very unpleasant, however we put that down to the very recent flooding rain in area. Bathroom ok but shower recess has mould in grout and the hob is very high to step over. Parking is tricky, down a steep drive and sharp turn into small parking bay making exits challenging to avoid drop over high driveway edge. Advised by manager that this is being addressed soon. We stayed in the self contained appt, under the main house. Firstly, I want to say the hosts seem really lovely, but unfortunately we felt this place is very dated and run down. Everything was the cheapest possible quality, from the coffee machine to the linens, the bed was poor quality probably a very cheap bed. We would have stayed at the lodge which was less than this place, but it was booked out. We paid $260 which was apparently a discounted rate from $275. I think the owners should be fair in their pricing. This is 3 start accomodation at the most and the pricing should have reflected that. I would also like to note. We were looking for someplace for a convenient stopover. This place was cold, old and not easy to get to. "A continental breakfast is available daily at the bed and breakfast." This was misleading - it was dry cereal and a loaf of bread. Just call it what it is. "Located in Bellingen" is also misleading as its on the very edge. You would not stroll into the town center. It was overpriced for what it was. Might be good for a longer stay on the outskirts of Bellingen if you want something 'cheap and cheerful', although we found it to be neither.
