Wow ,could not fault this wonderful place. Should be 10 star rating, best food a credit to the chef and his staff Wonderful spotless accommodation, a credit to their cleaners Amazing atmosphere, the most friendly bar staff , also a credit to them But more than anything , the owner Fred and his dedicated family Tom and Casey I want to say Thankyou ,Tom came to our rescue at 3.30am to help us when one of our friends had a suspected heart attack and opened up the Taven so the ambulance could access the room to attend to our friend . Fred offered us his car to use ,as we where travelling on motorbikes , so that we could travel to and from the hospital at Coffs Harbour. Casey rebooked us to stay for as long as we needed too and offered also to pick up our friends wife from the hospital if we needed her help We will be back soon , to revisit and finish our journey! As we do alot motorbike rides and have been to so many wonderful NSW towns , we often return to the ones that shine , but we have all agreed hat Diggers Taven is our no 1 place we have been and stayed at Thank you again ...

A fairly new block built at the back of the tavern. Room was very quiet as I think most would be, large and appointed in normal motel style. Bathroom and room were very clean. The only downside was the carpark. The tavern uses the public carpark located behind the main street (but right beside the tavern accommodation). I confess to being a little worried about the security of the car during the night, but all was fine, however we did have to keep a close eye on teenagers riding skateboards right beside our car in the carpark. The entrance to the accommodation was not easy to find (around the rear of the building) There is no lift from the carpark to the accommodation, so we had to carry our bags up two flights of stairs. The connected tavern is well located in the main street and we did not hear any noise from the patrons when in our room. Overall, a pleasant stay in a clean, well-priced,...

My family and I needed some emergency accommodation earlier this week (to visit the hospice) and we were able to secure a room at the Diggers Tavern - with no idea what to expect.

I have to say, it was great - everything you need and nothing you don't! We stayed one night in a twin room and it was absolutely fit for purpose. Large bathroom was a nice surprise too - nice tall shower.

Additionally, we grabbed a takeaway bistro meal and it was excellent. I had a curry (which was great) and everyone else finished their meals - which is a good sign.

My only comment would be about the tv placement - we could have used it to entertain the kids for a bit, but it was high up the wall and hard for them to see. Minor critique, and I'm sure people smarter than me decided that was the best place for it so...

Will stay again if we need to come up that way....

I dined at the Bistro lunch on a Tuesday, no atmosphere, the Bistro cashier was pleasant. The Beef Nach Parmy, well firstly the beef tasted more like bolognaise than Mexican beef, strong tomato paste, no paprika or any symbol of Mexican spice or bean. The corn chips had been placed on top of the Snitty then the beef mince then cheese, heated under the grill. When you cut through to eat, the cornchip is obviously so SOGGY, unpleasant. A top of the melted soggy fiasco is a large dollop of sour cream and 5 sliced fridge cold jalapeno rings. Fries are underneath all of it and a limp, not seasoned leafy side salad. I had an entree if Southern Fried Squid, it was so tender, tasted like flour but thank goodness the garlic aioli was the hero I say HERO of the day.

Beware. The front of the hotel was completely gutted in a fire in October 2024 but there is no mention of this. Guests can no longer access the main street. Access is from the back carpark and there is only a shabby back bar and even shabbier rooms. We had lovely accommodation in the Hunter Valley for the same amount of money but this accommodation is sub-standard. We did not stay. I hope the owners can put our money to use with their re-building and refurbishing.

During January 2023, I recently enjoyed Ceasar Salad with chicken strips with garlic bread and chilled glass of white wine. Great Atmosphere. Lovely place to Wine and Dine. Their Food was Delicious. I recently enjoyed a glass of white wine accompanied by a Chicken Kiev with Salad and Chips. Highly Recommended. I recently enjoyed a delicious Fish Taco with a refreshing glass of white wine โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†
