Travelling with a disabled friend and a pet.|Cabin 3 Pros - disability accessible and pet friendly. (It's not a full on disable access cottage.) This an extremely rare thing. Most disability accessible places don't allow pets and pet places are never usable for disabled guests.|Forest setting is lovely.|There was a specific marked out car park at the end of the park for cabin three but they're also other parks just near the pool I think I saw after I unpack the car there was a luggage trolley which would definitely be handy depending on how much stuff you have.|Bedding was clean. Beds were very comfortable with what seemed to be an assortment of pillows. I usually always take my own pillows at pillows don't worry me too much. |The air conditioner which we used to just warm up the room a bit for my friend works perfectly it wasn't that cold anyway about 18 degrees I think outside.|We didn't use the TV at all.|Bathroom was open and clean. Shower was good so was the hot water and the toilet was new looking.|The kitchen had what we needed including a pull out bench.|The pool area is nice and easily accessible from all the cottages and the cabana room which it adjoins. The ramp looks pretty good we didn't get a chance to use it unfortunately and the pool water is about 24 degrees which it's not bad really on a nice sunny day there's no trees covering the pool area so you get a nice clear sunny section.||Cons - Communication wasn't good. I emailed and called but couldn't get a response as I wanted to see what equipment I needed to bring for my friend and how much our pet would cost.|Barbara on the phone the day we were arriving was helpful.|Don't use the ramp to reception if you're load is heavy I don't believe it's safe and it needs replacing.|Floors were dirty. This is probably very hard to deal with as despite having paths the forest leaves debris which gets wheeled and walked in. It would be good if the small porch and screened porch were cleaned before guests arrived even just for looks but you'd end up bringing the dirt in anyway because you can't have good doormats that are easily manoeuvred over.|Even with the shower curtain most of the bathroom floor got wet when I helped my friend shower and there wasn't a squeegee which would be a good idea. The floor did drain well to the floor waste but I had to use a towel to dry it near the toilet so she didn't slip.|There were two small cockroaches but I expected that or worse because of where we were and maybe just some can a bug spray in the room would be handy. Plus I have cockroaches at my place despite insect control.|Small kitchen was usable and the equipment was good. The benches have had some serious hard knocks and should be replaced. In fact it would be a fantastic little kitchen if they replace the benches because it's all about the look.|The screened porch wouldn't be big proof because there are gaps around the floor.|Unfortunately there are no safe walking paths along the access road so if you want to go for a walk you have to drive somewhere and other than Byron itself there don't seem to be any places to walk.||Overall I would stay there again. It would be good if the owner could do up the kitchen and the reception ramp. But if you want to just enjoy the forest and the pool you should be able...
Read moreThis place is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Honestly one of the places to stay. I stayed here recently on a trip for medical appointments, business and recreational activities. It is the perfect place to unwind and get away from the hustle of life. I had beautiful birds, at my back step, and could fall asleep with the sound of the ocean.
The facilities are really nice, and it was clean and the design concept of the cabins is very clever. It's like being immersed in nature, with all the comforts one needs. Like a home away from home, a pool, nice places around the cabins to sit in nature, and additionally close to the beach and pet friendly. They are very environment conscious, which is a wonderful touch too. It's just really refreshing to stay at a place like this where they follow the ethos, that they advertise.
There are some beautiful restaurants very close by, which Phillip so kindly pointed out.
Philip was very, kind and accommodating and offered some of the best customer service I have seen. He was very knowledgeable of his area and recommended many other local businesses. He showed me how to get places and he went out of his way to be accommodating to my requests. Eg. Staying requirements.
This is one place I will definitely be visiting in the future, if not planning a trip around.
Highly recommend...
Read moreI would recommend the Rainforest resort at Byron very highly for anyone travelling Who enjoys the following, as we have:: Nature with , a relaxed atmosphere, comfortable beds, self contained privacy, , walking distance to beautiful scenery that is dog friendly. The resort is quaintly retro, so I would not suggest it is 5 star, but we extended our stay from 1 night to two, and two to three as we settled in to this eco space with screened in patio directly into the rainforest, and refreshing pool outside our cabin in total, simplicity and comfort. Our dog was welcome and comfortable inside and out on the verandah. We delighted in the walks on the 1.5km dog beach just a pleasant walk along the path in the wetlands A few minute drive to the beautiful wattego’s and Byron if you want, although we were pretty happy to just drop in there and return to the quiet of our little retreat with beach and wetlands nearby. The cabins are comfortable with great cross ventilation and fans which for us meant we were able to enjoy fresh sea breezes refresh our space during the heat, knowing we had air con if we needed it. The beds are comfy and sheets are good. Kitchens in the room are basic and fine and the camp kitchen with pool table and table tennis table would be absolutely amazing fun for...
