Lovely Stay at Tallow Beach Houses - 4 Stars

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Tallow Beach Houses over the New Year period. Our experience was mostly delightful, meriting a solid 4-star rating.

Pros:

• Serenity: The tranquillity of the location was a highlight. The soothing sound of waves crashing nearby and the chorus of native birds provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation. • Comfort: The houses are well-appointed for a comfortable stay. We had peaceful nights’ sleep, undisturbed by neighbours, which is always a blessing. • Location: Its proximity to the beach is commendable, offering easy access for those longing for a quick beach stroll or a day by the sea and close enough to Byron town.

Areas for Improvement:

• Amenities: For the premium price paid, especially during a peak period, the provision of basic amenities fell short of expectations. The absence of beach towels was particularly inconvenient, considering our travel constraints. Additionally, the inclusion of more comprehensive toiletry options like body wash and shampoo would be appreciated. • Connectivity: Improved WiFi is a necessity, particularly in an area with poor reception. This would greatly enhance the overall convenience, especially for essential communications like booking taxis. • Renovation and Maintenance: While recent renovations are noticeable, there seems to be room for further enhancements. Attention to details such as door handles, fly screens, and overall cleanliness would elevate the experience. • Check-out Expectations: The check-out process could be streamlined. The expectation to sweep floors, coupled with inadequate cleaning tools, seemed unreasonable considering the price point.

Over the years We have stayed at these beach cottages many times and loved the location, Bush outlook and rather rustic accomodation. We always got on very well with the manager and never had any issues. |We were recently very disappointed to have to cancel holiday booked for September due to border closure between NSW and our home state Victoria as a result of the COVID pandemic. We were even more disappointed when we were charged $150 administration fee for this cancellation. We gave notice as soon as we learnt borders had closed and we’re certain they would have been able to release the cottages. I also wrote a letter expressing my disappointment re this and received no direct response to my grievance. |I’m a health worker in Melbourne - this was truely disappointing to see how not all Australians look out for each other. We have cancelled a trip to Europe this year due to Corona pandemic and all accomodation was refunded. Europe has certainly suffered more than NSW yet landlords were incredibly humble and understanding when we explained we were forbidden to travel. ... pity Tallow’s Beach Houses...
