Casino is such a lovely area but I’m so sad with the customer service my partner, his family and myself have experienced through both the receptionists and manager. We are now short $400+ dollars with no explanation !
I can’t explain how frustrated and humiliating it is to be talked to like we do not matter. It is so sad that we were not able to stay in a cabin in which we booked and payed for in advance.
Mind you prior to being told our cabin was cancelled without any notification on our end - on the previous day my partner came into the reception itself and communicated with the management present if we could check up on our cabin booking for the next few days. We were told to come back tomorrow. From this point it is understood that we had the booking itself.
Not only am I frustrated with the way the management at Big4 Casino have communicated with us - I’m more than disappointed to know that our voices were not heard. I cannot understand why we were treated like this ! I do not appreciate being discriminated against and being talked down to.
We showed evidence of our booking via a confirmation email sent through Big4 Casino as well as the bank statement showing the correct amount sent through to Big4 Casino. But this was not enough. Nothing was done to help my partner, his family and myself out.
I will not be staying at this Big4 ever again and I cannot express my disappointment and sadness.
This is such an awful experience and I might not ever camp again as I cannot trust the Big4 business nor the management. This has left a sour taste in my mouth and I will never step...
Read moreThe park itself is lovely - well maintained, spacious, clean etc. However if you have young children I don't reccomend this place. It is for retirees and grey nomads. Prior to booking I knew there wasn't any playground or other recreational activities aimed at children, but went ahead because my children are pretty good at entertaining themselves and we brought heaps of outdoor games for them thinking they'd love all that open space. HOWEVER, what I didn't count on was the attitude of the local residents. They complained to me about my children who were riding their scooters up a wide road, despite that it was vacant. Apparently it impacted them from walking their dogs down the middle of the road. We used the bush hut for a barbie and were stared down the entire time while they muttered about us. We asked to have access to the camp fire to roast marshmallows. They begrudgingly allowed it but we were watched the entire time and then once we were finished they told us to leave. "Your roasting marshmallow time is over, this isn't play with the fire time. Are you done now?" This is a group of residents, mind you, not management. We went into the green entertainment shed and one minute later another resident followed us in and not so subtly kept a close eye on us. My children were well behaved and always supervised. We just happened to be the only family staying in the park at the time. We were just made to feel like we didn't belong there and had no right to use...
Read moreI spent two nights here with my wife and two young children just after Christmas, and it didn't quite love up to the expectations I had. There was nothing really wrong with the park, but it is certainly not a family orientated park in the same way many Big 4 caravan parks are. Rather, it seemed to be an amalgamation of a retirement village and a workers camp that also had spots for caravans.
My main issue was the vibe and feel of the caravan park. The huge quantity of long term residents made it feel as though, as visitors, we were imposing on their lives even though we remained in the caravan park areas and didn't venture down the roads housing the permanent residents. Again, there was nothing wrong, but it was just a bit uncomfortable.
I will say that the van sites were excellent. I had an ensuite suite, and it was the smallest of the lot, but still provided us with plenty of room. There are plenty of drive-through sites for those who want one, and they are enormous. The rows of hedging between each of the sites also provides a good level of privacy.
The toilet and laundry amenities were all nice and clean, although one of the toilet blocks was out of order. This may be due to some construction happening, but there were other options a short walk away. This would have been handy information to get a check-in so that I didn't wander the park with my laundry basket looking for a laundry.
If I was going back through Casino, I'd investigate...
