The hostel itself seems nice. However, we had just driven 11 hours and informed them on hostel world that we would be arriving later at 9 oāclock. We had a call at 9:03, that didnāt connect as there was no service for the previous hour before that. We were then rudely greeted by the female receptionist SYLVIE telling us she was going to cancel our booking and how it was disrespectful and antisocial arriving at these hours. Very hostile experience and did not feel welcome at all, as Iāve seen in other reviews she should definitely re-consider her job role. The joke of it was we arrived at 9:06- she were going to leave us stranded for being 6 minutes late! Instead we got a telling off and were sent on our way. To add to this, as soon as it got to 10pm, the lights were turned off to the social area and she came out, reminded us both that we were ālateā and we were all send to bed, like being in school. I understand there is a curfew but the unprofessionalism showed by Sylvie ruined our night and overall experience. This is the last thing you want after a 11 hour drive.
I would just like to add the other receptionist was very sweet and helpful when we spoke to her in the morning, this is not a dig at everyone who...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRooms were small but camping style rooms, cooking area is adequate with a BBQ as well. Covered area also provides a pool table and seated areas. The restaurant area across from the Kangarooms was less than average, food portion sizes very poor & not ran very well, especially not for the NRL grand final. As for the facilities in the Kangarooms, the bathrooms were good, although upon needing a pee one day, with a wet floor sign at the door, I made the conscious decision as a 26 year old to open the bathroom door, seeing nothing out of place and no one in the bathroom, I had a quick pee & left the bathroom, just as i was about to leave I was told from Silve I believe her name was about how disrespectful I am for entering the bathroom & then given a lecture as to why I canāt read a yellow sign. I did apologise but the way I was spoken was abrupt and very rude. She said I could have used the other toilets which when Silve (the same woman) checked us in the day prior never once mentioned any other toilets. Other than the 1 very rude staff member, everything else was good. If youāre wanting to see wild Kangaroos this is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were here for 2 nights as part of a group tour. The location is beautiful, right next to the Cootharaba Lake on the edge of the Everglades, where you're surrounded by kangaroos making for a truly unique and memorable experience!
The shuttle bus service from/to Noosa was a bonus. I was really impressed at the cabins and facilities on site - the Kangaroome were lovely and cool with AC whilst the mattresses were super comfy. The only negative is to echo what people in the reviews have already said - there's next to no space for 4 travellers to put their luggage so you each have to take it in turns to get things in and out of your bags. They could do with knocking through the back wall and just have 1 room per cabin, not 2.
The bathrooms were so clean and spacious whilst the kitchen area had everything you needed and was a nice place to sit and socialise amongst the wild life.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful. On the whole, a...
