I can't give a star for the rooms as I stayed on a powered Ensuite site and give it a 4 star, and it was EXCELLENT. Conway beach Big4 is a place where you will find a fabulous shop, where you can have a nice meal and a few drinks if you like as well. The retro feel is pretty extraordinary and done very well. The facilities (toilets, showers, and laundry)are in great working, clean, and tidy order, this they should be very proud of it. The grounds keeper is a man with very MANY talents with the number of job roles he has in keeping the park running smoothly, (the train driver to be precise) he needs a pay rise WITHOUT a QUESTION. The train was the highlight for my child and went on it not once, but twice a day every day in the time that we were there. The downside is that when camping it in wet season, there is no reprieve from the heat and humidity, even in the pool. The water is so hot that it doesn't cool you down at all it makes you feel worse, It's quite uncomfortable. However, go have a cold shower and repeat as often as need be, That's a real honest win. The pool water evaporated, It was that hot and had to be refilled at least once in the few days that we were there. The water spout park, the water there was the only way you could cool yourself somewhat beside the cold showers which trumps it all and it was at least 10 degrees cooler than the (hot bath water) pool. With in saying the above the only suggestive comment about the whole place, is that maybe a few shade sails over the pool wouldn't hurt to give patrons/customers shade and some reprieve from the scorching sun, heat, and humidity this time of yeah. As for location GREAT FOR THE KEEN FISHER PERSON as that is what the park is aimed at, it's not a place to go stay in hope you can just go down the road to local supermarket, it a place you need to be prepared for days at a time, as mentioned above it targets the fishing adventurers and not the typical family relaxing holiday unless you like isolation heat and humidity.....and fishing. It can get very windy (depending on storms etc) quickly being so close to the sand flats and some coolness to your camp when there is no breeze it's hard to keep comfortable during the days when the heat is up, and you don't have a cabin with air/con. All in all, it's a functional place to stay with the amenities they have for you to get by, for as long as one needs. Will recommend it to My...
Read more8 of us (4 adults, and 4 young children) had lunch at the Cafe, which was actually really nice. Afterwards, one of the adults in our party attended reception to pay for the kids to use the water park. The woman at reception told us that she would not charge us to use the water park today, and gave us wrist-bands for each of the kids. I guess our assumption was that entry was free of charge because we'd just spent approximately $80.00 at the Cafe. A short time later, a male staff member approached us and very abruptly advised us that if we weren't staying at the park we had to leave. We presented our wrist-bands and told him that reception had given them to us, and said it was OK. He remarked that day-passes shouldn't be available at this time of year, but that he'd take it up with reception. We thought that was the end of it however, a short time later, the male staff member, along with the receptionist, confronted us at the waterpark. The male started ranting about how this is private property, and that he'd checked their records and no payment had been taken for our passes and that we hadn't signed in at reception (we had all checked in using the QR code when we entered the Cafe, but were not informed by reception that we also had to sign in to use the waterpark). The male continued to rant and imply that we were lying - and during this time, the receptionist who had offered us free entry did not once correct this man, or admit that this was her doing. All she could do was mouth 'I'm sorry', while this man continued his rant. After this confrontation we packed up and promptly left the park. We were all in shock that we were treated so rudely by this man. We were also extremely frustrated that the receptionist allowed us to take the fall for her actions however, we can appreciate why she did not want to be on the receiving end of this man's barrage, as we were . We all live locally and we will never return...
Read moreNice to see there are other people who have experienced issues with this park the same as us. My husband and I called in here on Monday 20th of December to have a look around this park. After walking around my hubby and I decided to come back for a few days with our van. So we went into reception to see if there were any available sites only to be told they were fully booked till Jan 1st. So we decided we would book for four days from Jan 2nd to Jan 6th. We were asked to pay the full amount for our stay which we did ( but I thought this was a bit strange as I had only ever paid a deposit at other caravan parks). Any way, to cut a long story short, we had to cancel our booking as my husband's work roster was changed as some urgent work came in so he had to go back to work. As my husband only received notification on Thursday, my cancellation email was only sent on that day. The story goes that we will not get any refund back as we didn't abide by the Xmas holidays refund policy of 45 days . That's a bit hard to do when we only booked 10days before the end of December. Also we were told we would get an email with the Parks rules terms and conditions and a receipt emailed to us that day ( never received that email don't know where it got sent to. So we had no idea of our rights when it got to us having to cancel. We are not at fault here, as we were never given any information on the way their refund policies are designed but boy we sure have learnt a very valuable lesson to the cost of $244. As I have already said, it's seems this system is set up in the owners favour, not the unexpected tourists or visitors. My hubby and I are very disappointed with the way our issue was handled. We will never visit...
