I can’t believe that this place has been given so many 4 and 5 stars - it’s TERRIBLE! My sister and I booked an apartment with twin rooms for three days initially back in April, then extended it by one day the day before we arrived. Both of us were really looking forward to our stay at the Margaret Beach Resort and Margaret River. The apartments looked so nice on the website. When we arrived however, our illusion was shattered. We were allocated a 2 bedroom apartment - room 219 I think - that was downstairs and not a glimpse of a beach. Our view from the front of the apartment was quite pleasant of the garden, but the back of the apartment - the kitchen and second bedroom was awful. It was permanently dark, overlooked by a public walkway (no privacy) and a garden and utilities embankment. We went back to Reception, complained and asked to be moved to another apartment. No joy there! They said they had no other apartment for us but did ask us if we wanted to check out! We were holidaying there from Sydney - where were we going to get accommodation in Margaret River for 4 nights?? My sister had the first shower there - a shower over a very high bath. She warned me that the shower was leaking and water went everywhere. Taking that onboard, I had a very short and low pressure shower to avoid drowning the bathroom again. We complained to Reception and asked for more bath towels to mop up. We were told they don’t usually offer these as we were given our quota on check in - and that we can wash and dry them ourselves….They did begrudgingly give us a couple more bath mats. On the second day I had my shower and was very carefully getting out of the very high bath. How this was passed is a mystery. Anyway, with my left leg anchoring me in the bath and lifting my right leg over - my left leg slipped in the slippery bath and I scraped my right leg down the sharp tiled edge of the bath.I am still having medical treatment for this trauma. I asked the Receptionist at checkout to note this accident, I showed her the photos and described in detail what had happened. Her response was that they could offer slip mats!. Being an asthmatic, I was concerned too at the mould in the bathroom. When this was reported, the housekeeper did go and spray bleach all around the tiles, but nothing was done about the mould on the wall behind the door. On the plus side, the apartment itself was quite nice, beds comfortable and it was great being able to do some washing. One star. But, both my sister and I had the impression that they weren’t interested in helping us at all. One star goes to the Commons. That was great - nice...
Read moreThe place was very busy when we arrived as everyone it seems was watching boxing on TV in the “common” a bar/restaurant attached to the resort.||I was surprised by how many units there were, the place is a bit out of the way, the very pleasant receptionist had allocated a one bed upstairs apartment overlooking the surrounding area sea view.||There was plenty of free parking right outside the apartment.||The unit had a separate bedroom with ceiling fan, a large clean comfortable bed.||In the apartment was a small kitchenette with hob, microwave and toaster.||The bathroom had a Spa bath with overhead shower, also there was avery useful washing machine and dryer.||Outside i opposite was a decent sized swimming pool with some loungers, however pool towels are not provided here.||These are ideal if you intend to self cater, most of the people staying I guess probably brought a good supply of food with them as the nearest shops would be back in Margaret River Town, a good 10 minutes drive.||There is a bar / restaurant on site, breakfast can be had at the White Elephant beach cafe across the Road 5 minutes walk beach side.||Margaret River beach apartments is a super place to stay at both for travelling through...
Read moreStayed at Margaret's Beach Resort for the fourth time. Previous stays have been enjoyable however we chose to leave a day earlier than planned due to disappointing standard of cleanliness (stained carpet, cobwebs, dust, yellow stains around spa vents), state of fixtures (completely broken toilet and cracked power point) and room layout (bathrooms in bedrooms with no door for privacy - rooms smelled of mould and one bed sprayed with water every time shower was on). Not to mention no view and right beside cleaning station. If all of the two bedroom townhouses are like this I have no idea how this place could be getting five star reviews. We did get a phone call from the manager after we left enquiring as to why we had left early. After I provided our reasons, he said it all could have been fixed if I'd let him know earlier, as he would have just "swapped someone else from another room into our room".. so some other poor family would be put into a sub-standard room?? This was his solution. Oh, we did get offered a credit for a nights stay (which I explained to him we'll never use so no point). Way over priced, this is a 3 star hotel at best. We...
