Jabiru is a convenient location to stay in Kakadu and is cheaper than Cooinda. We spent two nights here after coming up from Cooinda via Jim’s Falls on the first day and then visiting the rock paintings and lookout at Ubirr and Cahill’s Crossing before going onto Darwin. From the road look for the sign saying Kakadu Lodge not Aurora. At checkin you are given the gate code. The lodge is arranged in concentric circles of camping / caravan sites around the pool and bar/ restaurant centre which is the place to relax and eat. We were issued a slip of paper as a guest with the right to order alcohol. There is a very small shop onsite but a drive into Jabiru will eventually find the bigger supermarket though it took us a while to find it. ||We stayed at the Lodge double bunk room with shared facilities. These motel style rooms are close to the centre with ours in two rows of rooms around common bathroom facilities with cars parked at ends only. They didn’t have ensuites. We stayed in room 20 where we were next to a camp kitchen and the communal bathrooms. Despite that we didn’t find it noisy and we found the location convenient and you can walk on pavement to both facilities. There is no wifi but we had Optus phone signal.||Our fairly basic room had tiled floors and cinder block walls with tall ceilings. I liked the cane motif on the desk, wardrobe and chair. There were also two plastic chairs outside. There was a small corner TV, kettle, mini-fridge with a jug of water, milk, coffee, tea, sugar, cups, glasses, tea towel and tissues. The split system air con and fan were quiet and efficient.||There was one double bed and a bunk bed with two singles with sheets and coverlets only but with two spare blankets if weight was needed and two extra pillows. Bed lights and double power points are above all beds, including top and bottom bunks, with another one with a power board above the fridge but no points near the desk. There was a hanging space with coat hangers. The room was supplied with towels, soap and small bottles of conditioning shampoo.||The communal showers were hot and had good pressure. They consisted of two compartments so there was room to store clothes while showering. The laundry was $3 for the washing machines. The shared kitchen was well equipped with a two gas burner stove, gas lighter, microwave, sink, toaster oven, toasters, sandwich presses, kettle, pots, pans, crockery, condiments, dishwashing supplies, tea towels, BBQ utensils, cutlery, wok, pots, pans, and condiments. It had couches and other seating. Recycling bins are available. It was a bit expensive for shared facilities but that is the price you...

Booked a lodge room very unwillingly but it’s all there was left. This is so not my style but it turned out to be really fun and we totally enjoyed it for a couple of nights. The cooling worked great, beds were fine and there was a BBQ almost outside our door. Perfect! The shared bathroom and camp kitchen were good with everything you could need. Reminded me of school camp but in a good way! Was a great way to let go and wind down a lot more with such a beautiful laid-back kind of boho vibe. The place is really well-lit, quiet but plenty of people around and the welcome at reception was the best of anywhere we visited in Darwin. Very professional. The pool area is excellent with lovely ambience and the outdoor poolside dining really elevates this place to a resort! It was so good at night to hang out by the pool and have a few drinks and snacks with the family and soak in the holiday vibes! Loved it! Quite sad to leave this place! Also it’s in a great location for Ubirr but a good 40 minute drive back to Cooinda for the Yellow water tours (something to consider for the sunrise tours if you’re not an...

Good location for exploring Kakadu. The camp grounds has its charms with well kept lawns and large trees and palms. Dinner is relatively good - and probably the best value for money in the area. In other words: come visit for a drink or dinner - but don't stay in the cabins.

We stayed 2 adults and 3 kids in a 5 pers cabin and it was no pleasure. The single room cabin was far too small and quite worn. The room had a single light source - neon tubes in the ceiling - so when your kids go to bed you go too. No bed lights. We actually used the microwave oven door light as a nightlight. The bathroom fan was so loud that you would wake when someone went to the bathroom - the only thing louder was the A/C. The kitchen only contained max 4 of each item (which is actually quite common for five person rooms), no cooker and one blunt knife. The bunk bed is made for kids as the bottom ceiling height is very low. However there is no guard in the top bunk.

Is it too much to ask for owners of hotels and cabins to experience staying in...

Hmm, NOT SO GOOD. When one is paying for powered site just under $60 per night, one would not expect to be woken up at 7.30 by Truck that is parked within 3 meter of ones Campervan. The truck was parked for approximately 40 minutes right by my window while running his engine non-stop. Upon completion of the 40 minutes it honked its loud horne numerous times, I suspect that he wanted to make sure we are awake by then :-). Other facilities very average, no soaps or paper towels in the toilets showers or basins. For $58 per night that's not good enough. We are travelling the entire NT and WA and I have to say I have stayed in more accommodating and less than half the price of this Aurora Kakadu Lodge Caravan Parks. Each to their own, but I would not be recommending wakeups like ours this morning. When I complained to Judy the owner, I was essentially told: though tities, there was no compensation provided by the Lodge, in fact I was laughed at when I asked. Oh well, plenty of other choices in NT, so choose wisely.

Stayed here in our caravan for 3 nights at the end of June. I was a bit worried about the amenities as some reviews weren't great saying they were filthy. I was pleasantly surprised although old and tired they were clean. The pool area is a little run down needing a bit of a revamp and the area around the bistro and bar could do with a good pressure clean. However Al usable in a pleasant setting. Our problem was choosing a spot, we couldn't make our mind up😄🤣😂 much easier when they issue you with a site. Plenty of space to spread out. The place is a little pricey but compared to Cooinda down the road it's a bargain. Would recommend. Haven't used the bistro but will have tea there tomorrow.
