We stayed here for a week recently and it was very pleasant all around. The rabbits, lorikeets that perched on the villa railing, the crabs and the ibis and kookaburras were all putting on a bit of a show for the week, which was perfect as it was my partner's first visit to Australia.
The villa was really very good, it was very clean, the shower was nice and having somewhere to hang clothing was great, though some more hangers provided would be great.
The bed wasn't the -most- comfortable, but neither were we expecting them to be.
The staff were all friendly, the facilities were all clean, the playground was a lot of fun for our daughter.
Our only complaints were that the wifi is next to useless, we couldn't stay connected, so streaming services, work emails and even messages and calls weren't possible. If we stayed again we would bring our own mobile internet. Also, the laundry room was a tiny bit frustrating in that we went up after the office was closed, not realising it only took dollar coins or twenty cent pieces, and we had other coins. Partner insisted on trying other coins, and machine ate them. We didn't bother following that up though. Had to walk up to the local IGA to switch it out for as many coins as they could give me - having a coin machine would have made life easier, but we got there in the end! The machines were big and cleaned and dried everything well.
Coming and going was fine, the park was almost always quiet except for two nights when the next villa over appeared to have a party of some kind and had someone running back and forth a lot.
All in all, we would definitely stay again, and would recommend staying here if you want somewhere peaceful and clean, close to the water without a lot of people...
Read moreThe bathroom in the cabin is ridiculous. The towel rail and the sink face each other so closely you can barely get between them to reach the toilet. There are no flat surfaces on which to place your toilet bag and no hooks on which to place your clothes.
We had one bedside table for three beds. No tissues, no alarm clock, no bedside lights, it's very Spartan. No power points next to the bed either.
There's a small dining table and three uncomfortable metal chairs. There's also a two seater lounge, for three people. There's a lot of wasted space in the cabin.
The kitchen is ok, full size fridge, cooktop and microwave, no oven. Jug and toaster hiding in the cupboard. There's just enough cutlery, crockery and glasses for three people, but no surplus.
The WiFi is useless, it's slower than dialup. No Netflix or anything like that. Optus mobile reception is marginal too, if you're bringing your own.
The park shop has no food, apart from milk. It's all just chips and lollies. The pool is nice and there's one tennis court. There's a TV room with some cheesy game machines and an air hockey table. Naturally the TV remote is mia. There's plenty of space at least.
The Wharf is getting ready to collapse, you can still walk out along it, but watch your step. Good spot for fishing and crabbing.
There's a courtesy bus to the RSL available, which could also be used to reach the IGA supermarket (shuts at 4pm). You can walk into town, if you're in no hurry, it's only a km or so.
The grounds are generally well kept. Not much in the way of visitor parking. Good luck reaching the code pad from your car to open the gate. There's a coffee cart, haven't seen...
Read moreA very quiet place to stay for either a one night stop over or spend 2 or 3 nights. It is a long way off the pacific highway. The staff are friendly and helpful, we were allocated near the boom gate entrance and we asked could we go down into the middle of the mark and staff were happy for us to do that as they were not full as long as we respected the areas they were trying to refurbish. The amenities were very clean (we only used the newer block). There is a good fenced in play ground; a swimming pool with a separate water feature pool with a little slide etc for young children and a larger pool; a full tennis court and beach volley ball & jumping pillow. It has a lovely camp kitchen with seating that looks out over the bush area towards the river. There is also quite a lengthy jetty that goes out over the river which opens up to a large estuary. It is lovely to watch the sun set from the jetty - although watch your step on the jetty. There is also a board walk that goes through mangroves. The powered sites are both a good length and wide. There are picnic tables throughout the park and also a sheltered picnic area. There is lots of bird life. They are currently refurbishing some of the grass sites area. We highly recommend it if you want something quiet, we will definitely be back. The town is small but has a good size IGA, a butcher, bakery, chemist & fish and chips shop and a large information centre with...
