The Grand Oaks is a wonderful asset to the Beechworth community. Where the owners have gone to great lengths to make this resort stand out as an icon within the area. You are warmly welcomed by friendly owners and staff, who aim to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The resort has a restaurant that welcomes all visitors to come and enjoy the beautiful meals. They cater not only to guest but all visitors to the area, and all are welcome to come and enjoy a date night, or simply come to enjoy a meal.
The resort also has facilities to cater to groups and has conference rooms and outdoor areas. The resort has just installed a bridal suite room, which is a comfortable special place where the needs of brides can be prepared before walking down the aisle. The owners have certainly put a lot of thought into the resort, looking for more ways to cater to their guests' needs.
I have been coming weekly here and have had the pleasure of watching it change and morph into a warm and inviting place to come. As most of my reviews, I love to promote local businesses in and around my region.
So if your looking to come and stay in Beechworth and looking for a clean, presentable and comfortable place to rest, or maybe you need your next venue for buisness or group, then I would encourage anyone to consider Oaks Resort as a wonderful...
Read moreArrived after riding a motorbike for over 500kms in the heat to be told at check-in the restaurant was closed for a private event and meals would not be available. No advance information provided but advised I would need to ride back into town for food. This, at 7:30pm when most places close their kitchens at 8pm and town being 1.1km away…
Simply unacceptable.
I was then checked into a room which had not been made up after the previous guest.
To not inform guests of a private event when they book is in excusable. Especially when my booking was literally the day before my arrival.
Post Hotel reply response:
Why should guests be obliged to anticipate your inability to communicate a fundamental facility would be unavailable?
You offered two dishes only which were both fish based and were by default, leftovers from the event. It’s disingenuous to suggest I was provided with genuine ’options’.
There was no confirmation upon arrival that my time would have otherwise precluded me from dining in house at the time I did arrive.
By deflecting accountability I certainly now won’t reconsider booking...
Read moreWe stayed for two nights at the recommendation of a local. We hadn't read the reviews before we booked but we really wanted to like this place. On the plus side, our room (King) was a good size, the linen was crisp, the bed comfortable, the shower had great pressure and hot water and the grounds are nice. Most importantly it is cheap. Our room was reasonably clean but the decor 'tired'. The common areas are even more tired - carpet tears repaired with duct tape, and very grubby around the various bits of old furniture scattered haphazardly in the corridors. We can't really comment about the service - we arrived late and no-one was there. We only saw the person behind the desk once and she was friendly and provided us with tea bags (there were none in the room). We asked the cleaner (whom we saw once) for directions to the local hospital and she professed ignorance which is amazing as it is on the main road about 500 m from the hotel. This place deserves two stars but I gave it three because it...
