Canonbar Motel — Hotel in Nyngan

As a former local, I’ve seen the Canonbar Hotel change a lot over the years and not always for the better. The new owners have given it a new lease on life and the renovation is stunning. The rooms are fresh and clean and tastefully decorated, with quality linen on the comfy beds, nice cold air con and everything else you expect to find in an upmarket motel room. The bathrooms are retro and cute with good water pressure and hot water. The new owners were on hand to check us in and help out if needed without being intrusive. So, it's pretty rough and I wouldn't stay here again. Room smells like cigarettes, walls are dirty and it's really not even that cheap at $95 for a double and $50 for a single. Sheets were clean, washroom was ok. There is a creepy "Service door" that has a sign on it asking you not to lock it that goes into the main building, this would make me feel a little uneasy if I were leaving anything in the room when I wasn't around, didn't even like sleeping knowing it was there. On the positive side, I would consider dropping by for Karaoke night, it really did sound like the most exciting thing going...

We arrived in town around 8pm. Both the major motels were booked out so we gave Canonbar a call. Marina was very helpful and was willing to drive back to town to help us out.
