Amalfi Resort - Busselton|Worked for us as a base for exploring the Margaret River Region.|We managed to get a very good deal for a five-night stay for a one-bedroom deluxe single level villa last month in the off season and it was an ideal base for us to explore the Margaret River region.|We were allocated a first-floor unit so had to climb a staircase to enter, which wasn’t a problem for us, but you may consider asking for a ground floor one if you are not good with steps. Large lounge area with big digital television, two comfortable sofas and a dining table with four chairs, a small but functional open kitchenette and a very comfortable bedroom with queen size bed and plenty of storage. The bathroom/ laundry room is a bit basic, having a walk-in shower at one end, two sinks, a washing machine and tumble dryer on top of each other and the toilet at the other end, with the décor being very much functional industrial white. But the water pressure was very good, shower excellent and the laundry facilities were a godsend for us after three weeks in the Northern Territory. Easy to use washing machine and efficient tumble dryer, once I had figured out how to use it as for some strange reason it was installed upside down.|What I didn’t realise at time of booking is that all the one and two bedroom villas are actually two bedrooms, but if you book a one bedroom the second room with the two single beds is closed off from use. As we were on a five-week trip through Australia we were travelling with two large suitcases and the lady on reception allowed us to put the suitcases in the second bedroom, as long as we didn’t mess up the beds, and this was great as we could forget about them for the week.|We had a problem with the safe on arrival, as it would not operate due to low battery, but a quick call to reception had it fixed in no time at all. Also, the sound proofing was good because although the resort was only about half occupied whilst we were there, there were other guests in the unit below us, but we did not hear them once during our stay. |After three weeks of 25oC plus temperatures in Singapore and the N.T. and being reliant on efficient air conditioning units in our accommodation, it was a bit of a change to be in Margaret River during the winter season, where you need to put heat into the room. And for this, the combined heating and air conditioning unit in the lounge worked perfectly. They had thoughtfully put it on before our 3.00PM arrival, so the room was very comfortable. We like to sleep in a cold room, so it was off at night, and we found we only needed it on for a short period in the morning and the late afternoon when we returned to bring the room up to a comfortable level.|The location is excellent for exploring the Margaret River region, but a car is essential as there are no facilities in walking distance of the resort. Each unit is allocated a numbered parking space, virtually outside your villa and these are spacious enough to park the white SUV vehicles that appeared to be the hire car of choice in this region.|There is a small pool with hot tub and tennis courts, but we did not utilise these.|All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Amalfi Resort, and it served as a perfect base from which to explore this lovely part...
Read moreI had problems changing my bookings with Amalfi Resorts through the 3rd party, booking.com, but they personally emailed and called me to reserve my bookings directly through them! As I made a reservation for 10 pax, that certainly helped me tremendously and relieved all the unnecessary stress! Can't be thankful enough for that!
The whole vicinity and the stay were fantastic! The whole place was very clean! Bbq pits were speckling clean, not to mention the rooms, it has put thoughts for small things like sponge floor mop, laundry sachets, and a dehumidifier that helped dry our clothes fast as well! They provided salt and pepper shakers instead of the small sachets.
We booked 2 apartments for 5 pax each, the size of rooms was spacious, the beds were super comfortable for us, and the place was quiet, we slept really well throughout our stay. They are just 2 mins walk from the beach, and a quick drive down to Busselton city centre. They kids definitely had a lot of fun, as our room is direct access to the swimming pool! One of the days, there was a bread van that drove in selling their breads within the vicinity. It was absolutely thoughtful and definitely convenient! * If only it comes with coffee too*
Last but not least, the staffs were really friendly and helpful, making our stay even more pleasant.
Thank you for...
Read moreMy friend and I had a frustrating experience at the resort. After coming back from the beach, we were walking past the reception when a lady came out and started yelling at some boys in the pool for jumping off the ledge and causing large splashes. As we entered the pool area, we heard her tell the boys they were being watched on CCTV. We didn’t get involved, just set our things down on some chairs and headed to the kiddy pool.
About five minutes later, the same lady came back, this time with her boss. The boss kicked the boys out of the resort, banning them from the pool. Afterward, the boss approached my friend and me and started interrogating us. She accused us of jumping into the pool with the boys and claimed we knew them. Even though we explained that we didn’t know the boys and hadn’t been jumping in, she didn’t believe us. She kept yelling, saying she saw us on CCTV and that we were lying. She warned us that if we were caught jumping into the pool again or seen with those boys, we’d be banned too.
It seemed like the staff assumed that because we were also teenagers, we must be causing trouble. This kind of unfair treatment, based on assumptions and stereotypes, is not what I expect at a resort. I felt disrespected and unfairly judged.
the rooms were nice though and the tennis court and pool were...
